Summary: Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic malignancy, and identifying serum biomarkers for its early diagnosis is crucial. This study compared serum proteins of endometrial cancer patients and non-cancer subjects, identifying 16 proteins with diagnostic potential. A mathematical model based on CLU, ITIH4, SERPINC1, and C1RL showed excellent sensitivity and specificity in detecting cancer samples, supporting its potential as a diagnostic tool in clinical settings.

Summary: The study showed that quercetin (QUE) could reverse the resistance of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) to paclitaxel (PTX). By preparing targeted biodegradable cetuximab chitosan nanoparticles (Cet-CTS NPs) to deliver PTX and QUE, the growth of PTX-resistant tumor cells was successfully inhibited.

Summary: A new protocol for conducting two-dimensional (2D) electrophoresis was developed by combining agarose native gel electrophoresis with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) or flat SDS agarose gel electrophoresis. The technique utilizes His/MES buffer during the first-dimensional agarose native gel electrophoresis to visualize basic and acidic proteins in their native states or complex structures. The gel strip from the first-dimensional agarose gel electrophoresis is soaked in SDS and placed on top of vertical SDS-PAGE gels or flat SDS-MetaPhor high-resolution agarose gels for the second-dimensional separation.

Summary: This study compared the proteomes of A. baumannii strains and identified potential virulence factors associated with enhanced pathogenicity through protein-protein interaction network analysis, phylogenetic analysis, and animal infection models. The results showed that the pathogenicity of strain CCGGD201101 was increased by 180.5-fold compared to the standard strain. The study helps to better understand the mechanisms of virulence enhancement.

Summary: This research aims to develop a method for generating a synthetic protein spot dataset that can be used to develop 2DEG image analysis algorithms. The usefulness of the created dataset is evaluated by developing a neural-network-based protein spot reconstruction algorithm. The results show that the synthetic dataset is effective for the development of protein spot models, and the developed algorithm outperformed all baseline algorithms.

Summary: This review discusses gel-based redox proteomic approaches to detect protein oxPTMs, focusing on S-nitrosylation as one of the most accurate ways to analyze changes in protein redox status. The information collected in this review relates to recent progress in methods for enriching and identifying redox-modified proteins, with emphasis on fluorescent gel proteomics. Gel-based fluorescent proteomic strategies provide low-cost and easy-to-use tools for investigating the thiol proteome and can offer substantial information on redox signaling.

Summary: This study found that normobaric hyperoxia treatment inhibits the growth and migration abilities of lung cancer cells and enhances the sensitivity to chemotherapy drugs by promoting cell apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress. This suggests that normobaric hyperoxia may be a new strategy to overcome chemoresistance in cancer cells.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of drought stress on two cotton varieties, revealing that Bt cotton showed stronger drought tolerance compared to non-Bt cotton at the protein expression and physiological levels. This finding may aid in breeding new drought-tolerant and high-yielding cotton hybrid varieties.
