Summary: Secondary extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) related to urothelial carcinoma is rare, and there is a paucity of literature regarding its management. Surgical resection is a common treatment strategy, but nonsurgical interventions may also be effective.

Summary: In this study, the authors introduce a new method called Tensor-cell2cell for deciphering context-driven intercellular communication. By considering multiple stages, states, or locations of cells, Tensor-cell2cell can uncover communication patterns associated with different phenotypic states and provide the ability to identify communication modules related to disease severity.

Summary: This study developed a novel computational framework to analyze the transcriptome of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) at multiple scales. The analysis revealed functional enrichments related to cell cycle acceleration, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and chemokine-modulated inflammatory response during NPC progression. In addition, a chemokine called CXCL10 was found to recruit cytotoxic T cells in the NPC microenvironment.

Summary: This study investigates the expression of LHRH and LHRH-R-I in transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) type of human bladder cancer, finding high incidence of expression of both in the samples examined. Positive immunostaining for LHRH-R-I with different expression intensity was found in all samples, showing a negative correlation with TCC grade.

Summary: In this study, the researchers found that Suprabasin protein is increased in expression in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and decreases with increasing grade. They also observed no expression of Suprabasin in basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Therefore, Suprabasin can be used as a biomarker to differentiate SCC from BCC.

Summary: The TITAN-TCC study examines the efficacy of anti-PD-L1 immune checkpoint inhibitors in patients with mUC. The study found that the combination of anti-PD-1 and anti-CTLA-4 showed improved activity compared to PD-1 monotherapy in first-line treatment. Furthermore, individualized treatment based on treatment response can achieve better clinical activity.

Summary: In this study, the expression pattern of PSMA in different subtypes of renal cell carcinoma was investigated. The results showed that PSMA expression was strongest in ccRCC and cpRCC, supporting the use of PSMA-targeted theranostic approaches in these subtypes.

Summary: International guidelines recommend universal screening of endometrial carcinoma patients for Lynch syndrome. This study found that limiting methylation testing to patients under 65 years would reduce the testing effort while maintaining a low false negative rate.

Summary: IMP3 expression is higher in malignant laryngeal lesions compared to dysplasia and benign lesions, serving as a useful marker to differentiate between invasive and noninvasive lesions. Higher IMP3 expression is associated with worse clinical outcomes in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx.

Summary: This study investigated the histological characteristics of tumors from reptiles and proposed a histopathological classification for squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) and basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) in reptiles. The study found that some tumors initially diagnosed as SCCs were re-classified as BCCs, and some SCCs were non-neoplastic lesions. Additionally, basal cell carcinomas were diagnosed in seven additional reptile species for the first time. Immunohistochemical staining showed differences between the examined SCCs and BCCs, indicating potential for differentiation.

Summary: The SYNE1-rs9479297 genotypes were found to be associated with the co-occurrence of HCC/TCC DPC and correlated with SYNE1 expression, which in turn impacted the proliferation and migration of HCC/TCC cells, thus affecting clinical outcomes.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that up to 80% of canine urothelial carcinoma patients carry the BRAF V595E mutation, which is similar to the human V600E mutation. Canine TCC cell lines responded differently to BRAF inhibitors, with sorafenib showing greater effectiveness than vemurafenib. These findings provide valuable research materials for developing therapeutic strategies for canine TCC patients.

Summary: This study systematically describes the cellular atlas of human intramucosal oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and identifies key changes in cell subsets and transcriptional levels. The study reveals the heterogeneity of epithelial cells and their evolutionary trajectories during ESCC tumorigenesis. The study also identifies new biomarkers for poor prognosis and a subcluster of malignant cells associated with metastasis and angiogenesis. The interaction between malignant cells and CAFs via the MDK-NCL pathway is highlighted as an important hallmark in the early change of tumour microenvironment.
