Summary: The Brazilian Society of Virology has successfully organized its 32nd annual meeting, yet again in an online format due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting attracted a large number of attendees, particularly undergraduate, graduate, and postdoc students, who had the opportunity to hear distinguished scientists from different countries present high-quality conferences and see young scientists showcase their latest research results. Despite the difficulties of another pandemic year, the 32nd SBV annual meeting achieved its primary goal of inspiring young scientists and facilitating discussions on high-quality virology research.

Summary: Twitter is the most frequently used social media platform by healthcare practitioners at medical conferences. This study aimed to analyze Twitter conversations during the virtual International Gynecological Cancer Society 2020 conference to understand the interactions between Twitter users related to the conference. It was found that the overall network shape resembled a community where distinct groups formed within the network, and less than 10% of the total members interacted on Twitter.

Summary: Research shows that women are significantly under-represented as symposium speakers at the annual meeting of the Society for Epidemiologic Research, but not in concurrent contributed sessions. The gender contrast between the speakers at these two types of presentations may be due to different submission and review processes.

Summary: This manuscript reports our experience at the 2021 SIIM Virtual Hackathon, where we developed a proof-of-concept for a radiology training module with gamification elements. Within the allotted 50 hours, we proposed an idea, collaborated with colleagues from five different countries, and completed an operational proof-of-concept, which was demonstrated live at the hackathon showcase, competing with eight other teams. Our prototype involved participants annotating publicly available chest radiographs of tuberculosis patients, and we demonstrated how experience points could be awarded to trainees based on annotation precision compared to ground truth radiologists' annotation, ranked in a live leaderboard. We believe that gamification elements can provide an engaging solution for radiology education. Our project was awarded first place out of eight participating hackathon teams.
