Summary: The study focuses on the application of Multinomial Logistic Regression in classification and proposes a parallel iterative algorithm called PIANO to address the issues of big data and large dimensional weight vectors. The algorithm can also be extended to solve the Sparse Multinomial Logistic Regression problem. Simulations demonstrate that PIANO outperforms existing methods in terms of convergence speed.

Summary: This study investigates the awareness of Indonesian smallholder dairy farmers regarding milk quality parameters and identifies factors associated with total plate count (TPC) and somatic cell count (SCC) awareness. The study finds that most farmers have conceptual awareness of quality parameters but lack knowledge of their values. Factors such as cooperative membership, distance to other farmers, and information sources significantly influence farmers' awareness. Cooperatives play a crucial role in increasing smallholder farmers' awareness of milk quality parameters.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of using easy-to-measure phenotypic traits to predict sheep resistant, resilient, and susceptible to gastrointestinal nematodes and compared the classification performances of different methods. The results showed that multinomial logistic regression and linear discriminant analysis models had the best classification performances. The use of readily available records and easily measurable traits may contribute to the identification of susceptible animals, supporting management decisions at the farm level and potentially reducing economic losses.

Summary: This study compared two regression analysis methods for disease subtypes in case-control studies, one based on data shared lasso and the other on L-1-norm penalized multi-nomial logistic regression. Experimental results showed that the non-symmetric formulation method is not recommended when homogeneity is high.

Summary: Urban green space is important for residents' well-being, but the green space in residential quarters has been overlooked. This study surveyed 7326 respondents in 78 residential quarters in Beijing and found that 84.7% of the respondents used the residential quarter green space at least once a week. Frequent use of the green space was associated with higher life satisfaction.

Summary: This study introduces a multinomial logistic regression model that penalizes the number of class-specific parameters, showing improved performance in both in-sample and out-of-sample situations compared to a standard model. The model clusters parameters by penalizing differences between class-specific parameter vectors, providing interpretable parameter estimates.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the discharge destinations of stroke patients after acute treatment and to identify predictive factors for the discharge destination. The results showed that stroke severity and pre-stroke living situation significantly influenced the discharge destination, while pre-existing conditions and pre-stroke functional impairment had no significant impact.

Summary: The debate on the primary cross-curricular skills or fundamental competencies that must be improved in higher education has increased in recent years, especially in new distant learning environments. The results indicate that socio-economic and socio-demographic characteristics are the most significant variables influencing the development level of this skill type.

Summary: Sparse multinomial logistic regression has gained attention for solving multi-classification problems in various fields. This paper introduces the group sparse multinomial logistic regression model and an efficient algorithm, the subspace quadratic regularization algorithm, based on optimal conditions. Numerical results demonstrate the superior performance of this algorithm in terms of logistic loss value, sparsity recovery and computational time.

Summary: The global aging issue has a significant impact on society, with China having the largest aging population in the world. Residential preferences of the elderly in China are influenced by factors such as education level, health status, and income level. The development of elderly care services should take into account the diverse residential preferences of the elderly in different regions and cities.

Summary: The study introduces Bayesian additive regression trees (BART) for log-linear models such as multinomial logistic regression and count regression, addressing issues such as zero-inflation and overdispersion. New data augmentation strategies and prior distributions are developed to extend the application of BART beyond Gaussian data models, showcasing its utility with examples and a previously published dataset.
