Summary: This study demonstrated that a polydopamine (PDA) coating on 3D-printed implants improved their hydrophilicity, enhanced the adhesion, propagation, and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), and improved osteointegration performance in vivo. This suggests that PDA coating could be a feasible strategy for optimizing 3D-printed implant surfaces and provides a basis for future research on immobilizing bioactive factors on these surfaces.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of hydroxyapatite (HA) and hydroxyapatite/titanium (HA/Ti) coatings on osseointegration and bonding strength at the bone-implant interface. The results showed that the bonding strength of HA and HA/Ti coatings were significantly greater than the uncoated samples. However, the histological evaluations showed that HA/Ti composite coatings had greater osseointegration compared to HA coatings, but did not significantly increase the bonding strength.

Summary: Magnesium and its alloy are promising materials for biodegradable vascular stents due to their good mechanical properties and biodegradability. However, their rapid degradation and poor biocompatibility hinder their clinical applications. This paper reviews the recent advances in surface endothelialization of magnesium alloy materials for vascular stents, including bio-inert coating, in-situ immobilization of bioactive molecules, polymer coating with bioactive factors, multifunctional polymer coating, bioactive micropatterns, glycocalyx-like bioactive layer, NO-releasing coating, and bioactive sol-gel coating. The advantages and disadvantages of these strategies are discussed. The future development and prospects of surface endothelialization are also analyzed.

The study highlights the effectiveness of genetic modification in extending the residence times and suggests the potential application of this approach to other cell membrane-coated nanoparticles.

Summary: The study investigates embedding bi-functionalized alumina nanoparticles in epoxy resin and its impact on the electrochemical and mechanical properties. Addition of 3% bi-functionalized alumina nanoparticles significantly enhances the inhibitive and protective properties of the epoxy resin against corrosion. The nanocomposite consisting of epoxy-bi-functionalized/alumina nanoparticles with -NH2 and thiol (-SH) shows substantial improvement in barrier and mechanical properties.

Summary: This study examines the impact of acetylacetone (AcAc) in alkaline surface treatment on the durability and anti-corrosion properties of electro-galvanized steel coated with a hybrid silane composition. The results show that AcAc plays a crucial role in the corrosion protection of the silane-coated steel. The proposed surface treatment method improves the corrosion resistance of the coated steel.

Summary: This study investigated the role of adipic acid (AA) in improving the anti-corrosion performance and in-vitro bioactivity of hydroxyapatite coating applied on AZ31 Mg alloy. The results showed that adipic acid-modified hydroxyapatite coatings by direct addition and post-treating methods display better anti-corrosion properties and bioactivity. This suggests that AA has potential application value in improving the performance of magnesium alloy coatings.
