Summary: Children with autism experience similar but not identical executive function challenges in both home and school settings. Age influences executive function impairment, and executive function ratings can predict individual adaptive behavior domains. Inter-rater reliability for autistic participants is similar to standardization samples.

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of CHEXI and its correlation with sociodemographic variables in a preschool population. A total of 173 children (3 to 6 years old) from southern Spain participated. The results showed that CHEXI had good internal consistency and adequate test-retest reliability. The analysis also revealed significant correlations between CHEXI and BRIEF-P, and identified gender differences in memory work, inhibition, and emotional control.

Summary: Executive functions (EFs) are positively correlated with many developmental outcomes, and ecologically valid measures of EFs may be more predictive of certain outcomes than performance-based measures. The Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-2nd Edition Screener, Teacher Report (BRIEF2-TS) is a short EF rating scale that has been evaluated in this study with positive results for validity and reliability.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between self-control, impulsivity, and gambling disorder (GD). The results showed a positive correlation between impulsivity and GD severity, and impulsivity also mediated the relationship between age and GD severity. High levels of impulsivity are associated with greater severity of GD.

Summary: Gambling Disorder (GD) is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. This study investigated the underlying mechanisms of GD severity by examining the interactions between genetic, psychological, socio-demographic, and clinical factors. Pathway analysis revealed that specific genetic variants, in interaction with other biopsychological features, predicted greater severity of GD. These findings highlight the complex interplay between biopsychosocial variables in the development and severity of GD, and provide support for the involvement of genetic variants from the neurotrophic factor family.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the role of obsessive-compulsive features in different behavioral addictions and explore the existence of empirical clusters based on obsessive-compulsive measures among treatment-seeking patients. Results showed that patients with compulsive sexual behavior disorder and compulsive buying-shopping disorder had higher scores on the obsessive-compulsive subscale, while patients with gambling disorder and internet gaming disorder had lower scores on other dimensions. Two mutually exclusive clusters were identified.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the changes in eating and general psychopathology in people with eating disorders (EDs) during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, considering socio-cultural factors. The results showed that there was a global impairment in mood symptoms and emotion regulation in all ED subtypes, age groups, and countries. There was also a trend of worsening eating symptoms during lockdown, with the highest worsening observed in the AN and BED groups. Furthermore, individuals with BED significantly increased their weight and body mass index during lockdown.

Summary: The study found that both GD and BSD patients exhibited elevated levels of impulsivity and compulsivity in all dimensions compared to healthy controls. Additionally, GD patients showed high novelty seeking while BSDs displayed low persistence and high harm avoidance. There was also a trend towards greater impulsive choice in BSD patients compared to GD patients. In terms of sex effects, GD women showed higher overall impulsivity and compulsivity compared to GD men, while no sex differences were found in BSD patients.

Summary: This study found differences between patients with gambling disorder (GD) with and without self-reported ADHD symptoms in terms of psychopathology, personality, and treatment outcomes. Patients with self-reported ADHD symptoms were more severe in their GD and experienced more severe relapses following treatment. Therefore, more vigilant follow-up and interventions are needed for patients with this comorbidity.

Summary: The presence of unsuitable coping and emotion regulation strategies in young populations with gambling disorder and in those who have experienced cyberbullying victimization has been suggested. This study found that adolescents and young adults who were victims of cyberbullying show difficulties in emotion regulation and maladaptive coping strategies when trying to solve problems. Public prevention policies targeting these risk factors could benefit vulnerable populations at young ages.
