Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Ureaplasma urealyticum in fertile and infertile women. It found that bacterial infections were higher in the infertile group, suggesting a potential association between these bacterial agents and female infertility. Timely control and treatment of these infections may be important for preventing and treating infertility and improving community health.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of STIs among infertile males and their impact on semen parameters and blood PSA. The results showed that Mycoplasma genitalium is associated with seminal inflammation, and further research is needed to explore the impact of STIs on semen parameters.

Summary: Nonhepatic hyperammonemia syndrome, often seen in posttransplant patients, is a rare cause of neurologic dysfunction and cerebral edema. Infection with Ureaplasma species and Mycoplasma hominis have been found to be key factors in its development. We report three cases of immunosuppressed patients who developed refractory status epilepticus and diffuse cerebral edema due to this syndrome. Despite aggressive treatment, the patients did not survive. Early recognition and aggressive interventions are crucial in improving the poor prognosis of this condition.

Summary: This article reports four cases of peritoneal dialysis (PD)-associated peritonitis caused by Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma parvum, and Ureaplasma urealyticum, along with a literature review. The four cases were female patients with recurrent culture-negative PD-associated peritonitis, which was related to menstruation. These pathogens were detected in the PD fluid of the patients using metagenomic next-generation sequencing. All four patients were cured by intraperitoneal tigecycline combined with oral azithromycin or minocycline. Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma parvum, and Ureaplasma urealyticum should be given more attention in female patients with recurrent culture-negative PD-associated peritonitis, especially when it is related to menstruation, sexual intercourse, or urogenital tract operation. Moreover, metagenomic next-generation sequencing can provide a reasonable method to identify the pathogen for culture-negative PD-associated peritonitis.

Summary: This study found that Chlamydia trachomatis, Ureaplasma spp., and Mycoplasma hominis are prevalent uropathogens in patients with couple's primary infertility. Male patients showed higher prevalence of C. trachomatis and M. hominis infections, while female patients had higher rates of Ureaplasma spp. infection. In patients younger than 25 years, C. trachomatis and Ureaplasma spp. infections were significantly higher. Ureaplasma spp. and M. hominis infections were associated with each other and were reciprocal risk factors of their co-infection in patients.

Summary: This study analyzed the current situation of Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU), Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), Mycoplasma genitalium (MG), and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) infections among obstetrics and gynecological outpatients in southwest China. The study found a high prevalence of UU infections and its role in mixed infections. Maternal UU infection was associated with low birth weight and premature delivery. The results of this study are important for improving intervention, prevention, and treatment strategies for reproductive tract infections.

Summary: The study found that only Mycoplasma hominis was associated with symptoms/signs in nonpregnant women, specifically related to bacterial vaginosis. Ureaplasma species were not associated with symptoms/signs. Therefore, routine testing for Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, and Ureaplasma parvum in nonpregnant women is not supported.

Summary: The prevalence of Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) and Mycoplasma hominis (MH) among infertile women was 31.87%, with the most affected age group being women between thirty and thirty-five years old. The most efficient antibiotics in eradicating UU and MH were Pristinamycin and Josamycin, with other effective options including Doxycycline, Minocycline, Tetracycline, and Erythromycin.

Summary: This systematic review investigates the role of genital mycoplasmas in adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes, alone or in combination with bacterial vaginosis (BV). The available literature does not provide conclusive evidence, highlighting the need for future studies that consider the interaction between genital mycoplasmas and the vaginal microbiome.
