Understanding the tectonothermal history of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB), is of significance in revealing the amalgamation of microcontinents or continental fragments during the accretion and collisional processes of the CAOB. A Precambrian metamorphic basement of the continental block may have been involved in the accretion and collisional processes and thus recorded complete tectonothermal information that is essential in understanding the tectonic evolution of the studied area. The Precambrian Wenquan Group in the Northwest Chinese Tianshan is commonly thought as the basement of the Yili Block. Here we try to reveal the tectonothermal history of this basement by detailed structural analyses and associated Ar-Ar datings. Four main events are recognized, the first one (D1) corresponds to ductile deformation characterized by NNW-SSE stretching lineation and top-to-the south sense of shear. 40Ar/39Ar datings on amphibole from an amphibolite and on muscovite from an orthogneiss and a migmatite constrain the age of the D1 event as similar to 443-413 Ma. The second event (D2) is represented by northverging folding that variably overprinted the D1 structures. Muscovite on 02 foliation in a micaschist yielded a 40Ar/39Ar intercept age of 338 +/- 4 Ma providing an oldest limit for the 02 event. The D3 event is marked by localized strike-slip ductile shearing producing sub-E-W trending steep foliation with shallow lineation, occurring at around 289 +/- 12 Ma. Finally, the D4 event is widespread brittle thrusting and open-upright folding. The Proterozoic rocks in the Wenquan Group underwent and recorded main tectono-thermal events relating to the Paleozoic orogenic processes of the CAOB. The D1 event corresponds to the Early Paleozoic continent-arc accretion forming the Kazakhstan-Yili microcontinent (North Tianshan), the D2 event could be correlated to the Late Paleozoic southward subduction of Junggar-Balkash Ocean beneath the Kazakhstan-Yili block and final amalgamation of the Tianshan belt, and the 03 event reflects the Permian post-collisional transcurrent tectonics in the North Chinese Tianshan. Traces of intra-oceanic arcs recorded in sandstones of eastern Kazakhstan: implications from U-Pb detrital zircon ages, geochemistry, and Nd-Hf isotopes

Inna Safonova, Alina Perfilova, Olga Obut, Pavel Kotler, Shogo Aoki, Tsuyoshi Komiya, Bo Wang, Min Sun

Summary: This paper presents U-Pb detrital zircon ages, geochemical data, and Nd-Hf isotope data from sandstones of eastern Kazakhstan, suggesting a juvenile character of igneous rocks in the provenance and a derivation from one or more intra-oceanic arcs. The data from eastern Kazakhstan support the existence of an extended Pacific-type subduction system in the western Paleo-Asian Ocean during the Devonian-early Carboniferous time.

Detrital zircon U-Pb-Hf isotopes and whole-rock geochemistry of Ediacaran-Silurian clastic sediments of the Uzbek Tienshan: sources and tectonic implications

Dmitry Konopelko, Inna Safonova, Inna Perfilova, Yury Biske, Rustam Mirkamalov, Farid Divaev, Pavel Kotler, Olga Obut, Bo Wang, Min Sun, Natalia Soloshenko

Summary: The study provides detailed data on pre-Devonian clastic sediments from the western Uzbek Tienshan, indicating their formation within a narrow time range and suggesting their origin from old rocks, partly possibly from continental arcs. The presence of ancient arc-type rocks in the South Tienshan implies the existence of a large arc system that once provided clastic material for Paleozoic sediments in the region.

Early Mesozoic Anatexis-Induced Strain Partitioning and Gneiss Doming in the Yunkai Massif, South China: A Response to Contrasted Dynamics of Paleo-Pacific and Paleo-Tethys Subductions?

Bryan Cochelin, Bo Wang, Jiashuo Liu, Shenghua Lu, Liangshu Shu, Charles Gumiaux, Yan Chen, Fang Song

Summary: This study aims to investigate the impact of late anatexis in the core of polycyclic basements, specifically the Cathaysia Block in South China. Field mapping and detailed structural and kinematic analyses were conducted in the southern part of the Yunkai massif, revealing strain partitioning and gneiss dome formation induced by anatexis. The results indicate that the gneiss domes and plutons in the cores experienced magmatic to sub-solidus deformation, while retrogressive shearing characterized strain localization at the top. Zircons U-Pb dating suggests that regional partial melting and gneiss doming occurred in the Triassic and possibly as early as the Late Permian. The study also proposes that orogen-parallel crustal flow in the Yunkai massif is controlled by the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate at the eastern margin of the South China Block.

Stabilization of IGF2BP1 by USP10 promotes breast cancer metastasis via CPT1A in an m6A-dependent manner

Jiajun Shi, Qianyi Zhang, Xi Yin, Jiahui Ye, Shengqing Gao, Chen Chen, Yaxuan Yang, Baojuan Wu, Yuping Fu, Hongmei Zhang, Zhangding Wang, Bo Wang, Yun Zhu, Hongyan Wu, Yongzhong Yao, Guifang Xu, Qiang Wang, Shouyu Wang, Weijie Zhang

Summary: Metastasis in breast cancer is strongly related to N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification and its associated regulators, particularly the overexpression of m6A reader IGF2BP1. Mechanistically, the study identified USP10 as the deubiquitinase for IGF2BP1 and established its role in stabilizing IGF2BP1, leading to increased breast cancer metastasis. Furthermore, IGF2BP1 directly recognized and bound to m6A sites on CPT1A mRNA, enhancing its stability and mediating breast cancer metastasis. Clinically, high levels of USP10, IGF2BP1, and CPT1A were associated with poor outcomes in breast cancer patients. These findings indicate the potential of the USP10/IGF2BP1/CPT1A axis as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for breast cancer.

Paleomagnetic study on the Early Permian Gubaoquan doleritic dike swarm in the southern Beishan area, NW China: Implications for the tectonic and paleogeographic reconstructions of the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt

Xin Zhu, Yan Chen, Bo Wang, Yunpeng Dong, Michel Faure, Xinghua Ni, Florian Duval

Summary: Through the study of Paleomagnetic data in the Beishan region of Northwest China in the Early Permian, the tectonic transition and paleogeography of the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB) during the late Paleozoic to early Mesozoic have been revealed. The research results show that there is no significant relative movement between the Beishan region and the Dunhuang Block since the Early Permian, indicating the absence of a wide Early Permian ocean between them. The southern CAOB had a WNW-ESE distributed paleogeography in the Early Permian, and large-magnitude strike-slip displacements played a key role in its tectonic activity since then.

Early Cretaceous magmatic-hydrothermal processes for the lode Yingdongpo gold and Poshan silver deposits in the Tongbai Orogen, central China

Jiang Zhu, Dan-yang Liu, Chao Chen, Song Chen, Yuan-bing Zou, Leonid Danyushevsky, Jing-meng Huang, Xiang-wei Tang

Summary: Numerous lode gold and silver deposits have been discovered in orogenic belts in China. This study focuses on the formation and fluid evolutions of the super-large Yingdongpo gold and giant Poshan silver deposits in the Tongbai-Dabie orogen. The results suggest that both deposits were formed concurrently with Early Cretaceous granitic magmatism and the ore-forming fluids were primarily of magmatic origin with meteoric water inputting. The gold mineralization is related to a change in the physicochemical properties of the fluids, while the silver mineralization is favored by progressive deposition of sulfides in a slowly cooling hydrothermal system.

Soft sediment deformation structures from the Brahmaputra Basin: A window to the eastern Himalayan paleoseismicity and tectonics

Arun Bhadran, B. P. Duarah, Drishya Girishbai, Mohammad Atif Raza, Avi Mero, Sandeep Lahon, A. L. Achu, Girish Gopinath

Summary: The Brahmaputra foreland basin, known for its dynamic tectonism and sediment load, exhibits a variety of seismically generated soft sediment deformation structures (SSDS) such as clastic dikes, sand sills, and micro-faults. These structures, influenced by multiple strong seismic events, are characterized by their dimensions, intrusion angles, cross-cutting relations, wall shattering, and age. The study suggests that a significant earthquake with high intensity and magnitude might have caused liquefaction features in the area. The findings highlight the importance of studying SSDS in tectonically active regions with limited surface ruptures and dense alluvial cover.

Paleo-Pacific Plate rollback triggered Early Cretaceous intermediate-felsic magmatism in the northern North China Craton

Xuli Yang, Feng Huang, Jifeng Xu, Xijun Liu, Liying Zhang, Zhao Zhang, Benyan Xu, Man Zhang, Yunchuan Zeng, Qian Liu, Mingda Lv

Summary: The extensively developed Early Cretaceous intermediate-felsic rocks in the northern North China Craton provide valuable insights into the nature of Paleo-Pacific subduction and associated geodynamic processes. Geochemical and geochronological analyses of trachyandesites and rhyolites from the eastern Hebei, northern NCC suggest that the trachyandesites likely originated from enriched mafic lower crust and the rhyolites are derived from the trachyandesitic magmas through fractional crystallization. The migration direction change of these rocks is believed to be primarily attributed to slab rollback of the subducting Paleo-Pacific Plate.
