Summary: This study introduced a method for calculating resin content using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for carbon fiber/ poly (ether ether ketone) (CF/PEEK) composites. The TGA curves and DTG curves were divided into four stages, and the resin content was accurately obtained from the transitional stage and stable stage. Results compared with other methods showed that the TGA method was suitable for resin fraction calculation with slight difference.

Summary: This paper aims to investigate the kinetics of polypropylene (PP) polymer pyrolysis using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results show that the activation energy values for PP polymer pyrolysis at different conversions are in good agreement with the values obtained from four model-free methods. Additionally, the most controlling reaction mechanism identified using Criado's method is the geometrical contraction models-cylinder model.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated the auto-ignition of thermally thick PMMA subjected to linearly decreasing heat flux, and revealed the critical conditions and influencing mechanisms of auto-ignition and non-ignition through numerical modeling and comparison with experimental data. It was found that near the critical condition, the critical mass flux is not a reliable ignition criterion, while a composite criterion combining critical mass flux and critical temperature accurately predicts the ignition time.

Summary: This study investigates the thermal behaviors, kinetics and thermodynamics of sewage sludge (SS) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and their blends during co-pyrolysis, confirming a positive interaction between SS and LDPE leading to improved weight loss rate and devolatilization. The activation energies, Gibbs free energy, and lower difference of enthalpy showed potential for converting bio-solid wastes into bioenergy.

Summary: This study aims to model the plastic pyrolysis process at particle scale for polypropylene and high density polyethylene, using kinetic triplets and appropriate conditions in a thermogravimetric analyzer. The results show that modeling the melting sub-process using the modified apparent heat capacity method, and dividing the cracking phenomena into latent and apparent processes, can help control the error between simulated and measured results at a low level.

Summary: In this study, thermal cracking of plastic wastes, including polystyrene (PS), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), and polypropylene (PP), was investigated using thermal analysis technique thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). An artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed to predict the weight fraction of mixed polymers, and the results showed good agreement between the actual and predicted values, indicating the high efficiency of the model in simulating new data.

Summary: This study investigated the kinetics of PET pyrolysis reactions at different heating rates (2, 5, 10, and 20 K min(-1)) using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) data. Only one kinetic reaction was observed within the temperature range of 650 to 750 K. Five different model-free models were fitted to the experimental data to obtain the activation energy (E-a) and the pre-exponential factor (A(0)) of the reaction kinetics. The most suitable reaction mechanism was determined using the Coats-Redfern (CR) model equation with the help of a master plot.

Summary: This study aims to build knowledge on the kinetics of PLA pyrolysis using TGA and four model-free methods (Friedman, FWO, KAS, and Starink), for application in the textile and food packaging fields. The obtained activation energies of PLA pyrolysis by the model-free methods were in good agreement, ranging from 97 to 109 kJ/mol. The best controlling reaction mechanism of PLA pyrolysis was identified as the geometrical contraction model (R2) through the Criado and Coats-Redfern models.

Summary: Plastic waste generation has increased significantly over the past 70 years, with more than 50% of municipal plastic waste being composed of PS, PP, and LDPE products. A kinetic model has been developed to describe the thermal decomposition of plastic mixtures, contributing to efficient plastic waste management. Different isoconversional models were used to obtain kinetic parameters, with Coats-Redfern model being the most suitable for determining reaction mechanisms.
