Summary: This study introduced a method for calculating resin content using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for carbon fiber/ poly (ether ether ketone) (CF/PEEK) composites. The TGA curves and DTG curves were divided into four stages, and the resin content was accurately obtained from the transitional stage and stable stage. Results compared with other methods showed that the TGA method was suitable for resin fraction calculation with slight difference.

Summary: This paper aims to investigate the kinetics of polypropylene (PP) polymer pyrolysis using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results show that the activation energy values for PP polymer pyrolysis at different conversions are in good agreement with the values obtained from four model-free methods. Additionally, the most controlling reaction mechanism identified using Criado's method is the geometrical contraction models-cylinder model.

Summary: In this study, PAN electrospinning blends with different Kraft lignin contents were characterized. The mixture with 50% by weight of lignin, electrospun with a voltage of 18 kV, resulted in fibers with smaller diameters and fewer defects. Additionally, a carbon blanket with 10% by weight of LKp was successfully obtained.

Summary: Composite fibers of bismuth telluride with polyaniline and polyvinylpyrrolidone were synthesized via electrospinning. The morphology and surface morphology of the fibers were studied using scanning electron microscopy. The X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the increase in crystalline phase and revealed the influence of functional groups. The thermogravimetric analysis and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy showed the thermal stability and decreased bandgap of the composite fibers.

Summary: Research on insulating materials for HVDC systems has focused on understanding the degradation caused by external environmental factors over time. Accurate measurement of activation energy is crucial for accelerated degradation tests and lifetime analyses. Different analytical methods yield varying activation energy values, highlighting the need for established measurement criteria.

Summary: In this study, micro polymer inclusion beads (mu PIBs) containing D2EHPA were characterized by TGA for the first time, and their extraction performance for La3+ was evaluated. The TGA method was used to determine the exact composition of mu PIBs, and it was found that PVC- or PVDF-HFP-based mu PIBs underwent negligible D2EHPA leaching during fabrication. The presence of Na+ in mu PIBs had a negative impact on the extraction of La3+, which could be overcome by washing the mu PIBs with 1 M sulfuric acid.

Summary: This study utilizes silver nanoparticles incorporated in PVDF membranes for membrane fouling analysis. The quantification of foulant using Raman spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis shows the occurrence of fouling phenomena on the membrane. The presence of AgNPs effectively reduces fouling and enhances surface enhancement in Raman spectroscopy analysis.

Summary: In this study, bisphenol A aniline based benzoxazine was reinforced with natural Arundo donax L. fibers treated in different ways at various loadings to investigate the dynamic mechanical properties, morphological stability, and thermal stability of the composites. The results showed that composites reinforced by alkali- or combined-treated fibers exhibited higher storage and loss moduli, indicating great enhancement in properties, likely due to improved fiber-matrix adhesion and compatibility. Additionally, the thermal behavior and char yield of the composites were significantly influenced by the nature of the chemical treatment used on the natural reinforcements.

Summary: We developed a new method for measuring the calcination kinetics of limestone by injecting limestone particles into hot fluidizing sands. We investigated the calcination characteristics of limestone under different conditions and analyzed the experimental data using a detailed model. The results showed that the calcination kinetics measured by this new method were faster.

Summary: The oxidation kinetics of spherical and non-spherical Mg particles in oxygen were investigated in this study. The oxidation process can be modeled as a single-step reaction, with the Avrami-Erofeev model providing the best fit for the experimental thermogravimetric curves. Scanning electron microscopy showed submicron grain formation in the oxidized spherical particles, while slower nucleation in the 30 and 60 µm particles led to sigmoidal thermogravimetric curves.
