Summary: There is discrepancy in reported ADC values of the parotid gland, with factors such as gustatory stimulation, diffusion weighting factors, and timing of follow-up after radiotherapy influencing the measurements. Interestingly, the choice of regions of interest may not affect the ADC measurements.

Summary: This study aims to establish the optimal diffusion weighting (b-value) for whole-body diffusion-weighted MRI (WB-DWI) to estimate the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) in patients with metastatic melanoma (MM). The results suggest that the optimal high b-value is 1100 s/mm(2) and higher b-values lead to increased geometric distortion and reduced signal.

Summary: A supervised learning framework for synthesizing ADC images using generative adversarial networks was established and evaluated in this study. The deep learning algorithm demonstrated the potential to generate ADC maps without heavily depending on hardware systems and additional scan time. The synthesized ADC maps showed improved image quality and tumor detection performance compared to traditional ADC calculations.

Summary: This study evaluated the utility of ADC histogram analysis in differentiating between three types of solid ovarian tumors: granulosa cell tumors (GCTs) of the ovary, ovarian fibromas, and high-grade serous ovarian carcinomas (HGSOCs). The results showed that ADC parameters can accurately differentiate different types of ovarian tumors before surgery.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the associations between pretreatment MRI features and the efficacy of combined targeted-immunotherapy in unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) patients. The study found that patients with lower ADC values had a higher risk of early progression (EP), suggesting that ADC value may be an independent predictor of treatment response in combined therapy.

Summary: This study evaluated the role of the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value in the individualized management of stage I endometrial carcinoma (EC). Lower ADC values were associated with higher grades, specific histological subtypes, and deeper myometrial invasion. Additionally, patients with higher ADC values showed better disease-free survival and overall survival.

Summary: There is a correlation between syMRI relaxometry and ADC maps in different breast cancer subtypes and treatment response subgroups. The correlation is more significant in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and less significant in HER2-positive breast cancer. T2 maps show a higher correlation with ADC in luminal HER2-negative breast cancer.

Summary: In this study, we used MRI to perform EPI and TSE diffusion-weighted imaging on normal brains, comparing the ADC and SNR data. The results showed that the ADC measured by EPI-DWI was significantly higher than TSE-DWI, with EPI-DWI also having a significantly higher SNR. Care should be taken when measuring ADCs near the base of the skull as the SNR of the imaging technique may be affected.

Summary: This study evaluates the early changes in apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) values after definitive radiotherapy (RT) in low- and intermediate-risk prostate cancer (PC) patients without androgen deprivation treatment. The results indicate that post-treatment ADC values are significantly associated with recurrence.

Summary: This study showed that early changes in tumor ADCs and volume during treatment in cervical cancer patients are associated with better prognosis. %ADC increase and %Volume reduction during treatment provide additional prognostic value for predicting tumor recurrence compared to pre-treatment ADC and tumor volume.

Summary: Adipose tissue and other fat depots are increasingly recognized as active contributors to human function and metabolism, with their fatty acid chemical composition playing a role in diseases such as obesity, insulin resistance, hepatic steatosis, osteoporosis, and cancer. MR spectroscopy and chemical-shift-encoded imaging are established methods for quantifying fat concentration in tissue, with recent developments focusing on assessing the fatty acid composition. Both MRI and MRS offer non-invasive alternatives to gas chromatography for measuring fatty acid composition in vivo, but further studies are needed to address potential biases and differences in measurement techniques.

Additionally, differences in fatty acid composition were observed between different abdominal compartments, suggesting a potential protective effect against insulin resistance.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate artefacts caused by 12 fixed orthodontic appliances in MRI images obtained using 1.5-T and 3-T scanners, and to assess different imaging sequences designed to suppress metal artefacts. Titanium brackets and the fixed retainer created minor artefacts, while conventional stainless-steel brackets, nickel-free brackets, the fixed retainer, and the rapid maxillary expander caused major artefacts in the maxilla and mandible.
