Summary: Pseudogymnoascus is a psychrophilic pathogenic fungus widely distributed in Antarctica, and studies on its secondary metabolites are rare. Through systematic research guided by molecular networking, a novel polyketide, pseudophenone A, along with six known analogs, was isolated from the fungus Pseudogymnoascus sp. HSX2#-11. The structure of the new compound was elucidated through extensive spectroscopic investigation and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Pseudophenone A exhibited antibacterial activities against a panel of strains, marking the first use of molecular networking to study the metabolic profiles of Antarctica fungi.

Summary: Five new isocoumarins, phaeosphaerins A-E (1-5), were isolated from the fermentation broth of the marine fungus Phaeosphaeriopsis sp. WP-26, along with one known isocoumarin, 6,8-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-3-methylisocoumarin (6), and two known pimarane-type diterpenes, diaportheins A (7) and B (8). Their structures were elucidated using NMR experiments, X-ray diffraction analysis, and comparison of the experimental and computed ECD curves. Compounds 1-7 displayed weak neuroprotective effects against H2O2-induced damage in SH-SY5Y cells. Moreover, compound 8 showed cytotoxicity against BEL-7402, SGC-7901, K562, A549, and HL-60 cell lines.

Summary: Marine sponge-derived fungi have been found to produce bioactive natural products, including two new alkaloids (polonimides E and D) and a new butenolide derivative (eutypoid F). In addition, thirteen known compounds were also isolated from the fungus Penicillium sp. SCSIO 41413. The inhibitory effects of the butenolide derivatives on the enzyme PI3K were investigated, and two compounds showed significant binding to the PI3K protein. Furthermore, two compounds exhibited inhibitory activity against LPS-induced NF-kappa B activation in cells.
