Summary: This study investigates doping prevalence differences between world areas and sport groups, and finds associations with the socioeconomic characteristics of each country. Africa, Asia, and America have significantly lower doping prevalence rates than Europe and Oceania. Strong to moderate correlations are identified between corruption index and doping rule violations, as well as between human development index and doping rule violations.

Summary: Sports nutrition supplements may contain undeclared doping substances, posing risks to both general health and unintentional doping violations in elite sports. A study analyzing high-risk sports nutrition supplements from Dutch web shops found that 38% of the products contained doping substances, including stimulants and anabolic steroids. Additionally, potential variability in analyte concentration within the supplements could lead to significant risks of unintentional doping violations.

Summary: The effectiveness of a national anti-doping education program was examined by measuring changes in athletes' doping susceptibility, intention to use dietary supplements, Spirit of Sport and moral values, anti-doping knowledge and practice, and whistleblowing. The results showed that athletes reported decreased doping susceptibility and intention to use dietary supplements, coupled with increased importance of values, anti-doping knowledge, anti-doping practice, and whistleblowing after attending the program. Moderated mediation analyses further revealed the indirect relationship between changes in doping susceptibility and dietary supplement use, moderated by moral values.

Summary: Anti-doping organisations aim to detect, deter and prevent doping in sport. However, direct detection of prohibited substances from athletes' biological samples has been criticized for its lack of efficiency. This study evaluates 17 years of doping test statistics and violations, revealing that most violations were committed by male athletes in ball and team or strength sports at national or recreational levels. Target testing capability and an intelligence-led approach in planning doping tests are recommended to improve anti-doping efforts.
