Summary: The changes in water vapour sorption of montmorillonite after high temperature treatment are different from that of untreated montmorillonite. The water content change during adsorption/desorption is influenced by the heating temperature, and the effect becomes more prominent as the temperature increases.

Summary: The development of desiccant-based dehumidification relies on a thorough understanding of porous media's adsorption-desorption performance and transport properties. Characterizing and modeling porous media are crucial for all adsorption and transport studies. This study utilized pore network modeling to characterize a silica-based micro sphere gel, estimating pore size distribution and connectivity to construct a pore network model and evaluate water vapor diffusivity.

Summary: In this study, the product distributions and gaseous product composition during the co-pyrolysis of platanus wood and bituminous coal were investigated. Complex synergistic effects were observed, where platanus wood had both positive and negative impacts on the formation of different products. Platanus wood also promoted the specific surface area and complexity of the pore structure of co-pyrolytic char. This study provides important insights for designing and optimizing co-pyrolysis systems for biomass and coal.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics of supercritical CO2 adsorption/desorption on coals with different tectonic deformations and their effects on pore structure and fractal characteristics. The results show that CO2 adsorption and desorption isotherms exhibit multiple extremes and negative adsorption. The specific surface area of transition pores affects the adsorption peak values at low pressure, while the development of ultra-micropores controls the adsorption capacity at high pressure. Moreover, the desorption deviation is influenced by the fractal characteristics of pores.

Summary: This study investigates the hydro-geochemical processes controlling iodine in groundwater systems in the North China Plain. It found that high iodine groundwater is related to marine influence and is mainly present as iodide, enriched through adsorption/desorption processes in sediments and groundwater. Ion exchange plays an important role in iodine enrichment.

Summary: In the process of hydraulic fracturing, the pore structure and gas adsorption/desorption characteristics of coal samples are affected. This study found that clean fracturing fluid treatment can increase the micropore volume and specific surface area of coal samples, enhancing both the adsorption and desorption capacity of methane. The degree of influence varies among different rank coals, with low-ranking coals experiencing a decrease in desorption capacity due to the increase in micropores.

Summary: The study focuses on the color variation of fresh cut spruce wood. Detailed color analysis was performed using spectrophotometric data and a color model was constructed. The amounts of color chromophores were found to be correlated with the chemical composition of the spruce wood, and the moisture content also affected the wood color.

Summary: This paper conducts experimental research on the changes in CO2 adsorption and desorption characteristics of coal samples treated with acid solutions, finding that acid treatment can alter the pore structure of coal, leading to changes in adsorption and desorption characteristics. By analyzing the relationship between adsorption constants and characteristic parameters, the thresholds for enhanced adsorption by acid solutions were determined.

Summary: Ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N) is a significant form of N in eutrophication water and an essential nutrient for plant growth. Carbon materials, particularly sulfonic-humic acid char (SHAC), show excellent adsorption and slow release of NH4+-N. SHAC-N treatment resulted in better wheat quality and facilitated subsequent crop planting. Therefore, SHAC has great potential for N management in environment and agriculture.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of CO2 concentration and duration of exposure on the carbonation, alkali content, and pH of alkali activated concrete (AAC) and mortar. The results show that AAC exhibits significantly high pH at the carbonated zone, indicating sufficient alkalinity to prevent reinforcement corrosion. The alkalis Na+, K+, Al3+, and Mg2+ are more abundant in AAC, boosting its alkalinity relative to the control Portland cement-based specimens. The phenolphthalein test is more sensitive for detecting carbonation in the control specimens. The long-term depth of carbonation is lower in AAC than in the control specimens under ambient CO2 exposure but is greater under accelerated carbonation when unstable reactions occur. The study also reports on the physical and mechanical properties of AAC and their influence on carbonation.

Summary: Porous hybrid electrolytes based on PEG and mesoporous silica were prepared by modifying the silica matrix and embedding a complex of lithium salt and PEG in the silica pores. The hybrid materials showed slightly mesoporous characteristics and exhibited high ionic conductivity when filled with the PEG-LiTFSI complex. The study also demonstrated the importance of filling both inter- and intraparticle porosity for improved conductivity.

Summary: Hydrogen peroxide pretreatment was applied for fast pyrolysis of corn stalks, and it was found that the pretreatment effectively promoted lignin depolymerization and decreased the reaction activation energy. The pretreatment also increased the cellulose content and removed alkali and alkaline earth metals from the biomass. The pH of the hydrogen peroxide solution affected the removal of lignin and ash by the pretreatment, and the composition of bio-oil changed significantly, with a significant increase in the relative content of levoglucosan after pretreatment.
