Objective: To explore whether auricular acupressure could improve the absorption of flavanones in the extracts from Citrus aurantium L. in the human body. Methods: Ten (10) healthy male volunteers were randomly divided into two groups. Group A was treated with the combination of oral administration of C. aurantium L. extracts and auricular acupressure. Group B was treated only with the oral administration of C. aurantium L. extracts in the same dosage as Group A. After 7 days of treatment, the plasma concentration of naringenin and hesperetin of the two groups were determined using high-performance liquid chromatography. Results: The plasma concentration of naringenin and hesperetin in Group A were significantly higher than Group B. Conclusions: Auricular acupressure at some specific acupoints can significantly improve the absorption of naringenin and hesperetin in the extracts form C. aurantium L. in the human body.

The Association Between Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Metabolic Syndrome in Adolescents: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Leyi Fu, Ningning Xie, Fan Qu, Jue Zhou, Fangfang Wang

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the association between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in adolescents. The results showed that adolescents with PCOS were more than three times as likely to have MetS compared to controls. Obese adolescents with PCOS also had a higher risk of MetS compared to those with obesity but without PCOS. Blood pressure and lipid metabolism were found to be affected in adolescents with PCOS, indicating that PCOS could increase the frequency of MetS by influencing these factors independent of obesity.

Associations Between Sex Hormone Levels and Autistic Traits in Infertile Patients With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Their Offspring

Lijie Jiang, Li Tian, Jiajia Yuan, Xinjie Xu, Fan Qu, Rong Zhang, Jianliu Wang

Summary: This study explored the associations between autistic traits and sex hormone changes in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), as well as the influence of parental autistic traits and related sex hormone changes on autistic traits in their offspring. The results showed that PCOS patients had more autistic traits, which may be related to elevated levels of testosterone and luteinizing hormone and decreased levels of progesterone. Additionally, the autistic traits in the offspring of PCOS patients were associated with higher maternal delivery age and a tendency towards autism traits.

Effects of Chinese Herbal Medicine on ovarian functions in the patients with endometriosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Xinyi Zheng, Fangfang Wang, Chang Liu, Jianghong Gu, Yuhang Zhu, Jue Zhou, Fan Qu

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effects and safety of Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) on ovarian function in patients with endometriosis. The results showed that CHM can improve ovarian function by increasing estradiol (E2) levels, regardless of whether surgery is performed or not. Further high-quality clinical trials are needed to support this conclusion.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the correlation between serum levels of tumor markers (CA125, AFP, and CEA) and total testosterone (TTE) in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that CA125 levels were significantly lower and negatively correlated with TTE levels in PCOS patients, while AFP and CEA levels were significantly higher.

miR-373-3p Regulates the Proliferative and Migratory Properties of Human HTR8 Cells via SLC38A1 Modulation

Lu Chen, Hong Wen, Yuhang Zhu, Fangfang Wang, Li Zhao, Qiongxin Liang, Fan Qu

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the relevance of miR-373-3p in the occurrence of sIUGR. They found that miR-373-3p can restrict the growth and migration of HTR8 trophoblast cells by targeting SLC38A1. The findings suggest that miR-373-3p could be used for the diagnosis and treatment of sIUGR.
