Summary: Antibiotics have become a new type of pollutant in water, with low concentration and biological persistence. Photocatalysis, as a novel water treatment technology, has shown great potential in the treatment of hard-to-degrade pollutants. This study focuses on the efficient identification and preferential degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride using core-shell structured molecularly imprinted TiO2. The prepared TiO2 exhibits higher adsorption capacity, selectivity, and photodegradation performance, with a degradation rate of 82.18% under 60 minutes of light irradiation. The core-shell structured molecularly imprinted TiO2 has advantages such as high removal capacity, stability, and environmental friendliness, making it suitable for the treatment of persistent low-concentration pollutants in water.

Summary: An intricate study on the pesticide Zoxamide was conducted to assess its interaction with soil and environment, focusing on adsorption-desorption and degradation behavior. Results showed the adsorption and desorption processes are influenced by the physicochemical properties of the soil. Degradation of Zoxamide primarily occurred through hydrolysis and photodegradation, with the potential for removal using activated carbon.

Summary: This study evaluated the degradation of fipronil under typical chlorination conditions, identified its disinfection by-products, and assessed the toxicity of unreacted and chlorinated solutions. The results showed that chlorination quickly degraded fipronil and produced toxic disinfection by-products, with potential mutagenic and developmental toxicant properties.

Summary: The insecticide pymetrozine degrades much slower on wax surfaces compared to in water, with the first singlet excited state of PYM identified as the key photoinduced species initiating degradation. Quantum chemistry calculations revealed significant structural changes in S1 *(PYM), leading to a two-step photoinduced hydrolysis mechanism. Activated water molecules catalyze the process, while the solvent effect is minimal. Understanding the detailed photodegradation mechanisms of PYM is crucial for developing environmentally friendly pesticides.

Summary: The photolytic fate of pyridaben and its main photolysis product was studied in various aqueous solutions. The results showed that the pH, organic compound concentration, as well as the concentration of nitrate and Fe(iii), significantly influenced the photolysis of pyridaben. The photolysis rate of pyridaben was much higher in rainwater, tap water, and river water compared to distilled water.

Summary: Pollutants in water resources, particularly organic dyes, are causing significant issues for human health and the environment. These organic dyes are mainly discharged from textile dyeing and other industrial processes. Removing these pollutants from wastewater is crucial due to their toxic effects on animals, plants, and human health.

Summary: The abiotic stability of chemicals is often not tested prior to in vitro bioassays, which can lead to misinterpretation of bioassay results. A high-throughput workflow was developed to measure the abiotic stability of 22 test chemicals in protein-rich aqueous media, and the effects of different reaction mechanisms on stability were investigated.

Summary: Researchers find it challenging to produce abundant free radicals and effectively separate photo-induced carriers for photocatalytic technology in wastewater purification and environmental remediation applications. In this study, a novel S-MIL-101(Fe)@CQD composite was successfully synthesized through multi-step synthetic routes. The composite exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than MIL-101(Fe) due to the formation of an intramolecular energy level and modulation of the intrinsic electronic properties of the MOF, where the CQDs act as an electron acceptor. The study also proposed the underlying photocatalytic mechanism and confirmed the wide applicability of the composite through pollutant degradation experiments.

Summary: The occurrence of various organic contaminants in the aquatic environment, including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and industrial compounds, as well as xenobiotic degradation products, has been elucidated in this study. Some compounds were found to have high concentrations, and prosulfocarb, fluopyram, and tris(3-chloropropyl) phosphate were the most common and widely distributed contaminants. Nearly half of the sampling sites contained over 30 different compounds. Non-target screening played a significant role in revealing the chemical composition of surface water and potential sources of contamination.

Summary: The study analyzed 18 multiclass EDCs in tap water from different housing types and found higher concentrations of bisphenol A in high-rise housing. The distribution of caffeine and sulfamethoxazole in tap water varied significantly between different housing types, with higher salinity and conductivity in high-rise housings compared to landed housings. There were no potential health risks of EDCs estimated in different age groups via drinking water intake.
