Summary: This study reviewed the evidence of service learning activities for nursing students and explored the educational and non-educational benefits and students' perceptions. The findings showed that nursing students participating in service learning programs had positive outcomes in terms of theoretical and practical learning, communication skills, teamwork, empathy, questioning prejudices, and commitment. The study also highlighted the varied nature of activities and interventions implemented using this approach and the positive evaluation by participating students. However, more experimental studies using larger samples are needed to further support the development of service learning programs.

Summary: The aim of this integrative review was to identify nursing students' experiences of handoff practices and the effects of handoff education on their learning outcomes. The review found that nursing students reported diverse handoff experiences, and factors such as knowledge, anxiety, confidence, and type of student supervision influenced their experiences. Various handoff education methods were implemented, with some significantly improving students' attitudes, satisfaction, confidence, clarity, and quality in handoff communication. However, more handoff education is still needed for nursing students to learn safe and quality handoff practices.
