Summary: This review compares the primary prevention recommendations of the recent 2021 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and 2019 American College of Cardiology (ACC)/American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines on cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention. Both guidelines emphasize a holistic approach to prevention and agree on the importance of lifestyle optimization and intensified risk factor management. They differ in their cardiovascular risk assessment tools and acknowledge the role of risk modifiers in refining risk calculation. The ESC guideline recognizes the importance of nonclassical risk factors and calls for legislative action.

Summary: Since the publication of the Korean Medicine Clinical Practice Guidelines (KMCPGs) for temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) in 2018, many new clinical research results have been published. Therefore, this study presents updated recommendations for TMD treatment based on current research data. Through a risk of bias assessment and meta-analysis, the draft version of the guidelines was determined and the final guidelines were derived using the Delphi method. Acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and Chuna manual therapy are recommended for TMD patients, and a combination of Korean medicines with conventional therapy should be considered.

Summary: The increase in asthma prevalence has led to a search for effective prevention methods, with changes in diet habits and individual food components being studied as potential interventions. Some nutrients have been confirmed to have preventive roles, but not all studies show consistent results, highlighting the need for further research on the role of food ingredients in asthma development. A new approach focusing on dietary patterns and diversity has also been proposed.

Summary: The allergy epidemic is linked to urbanization and the modern lifestyle. Different theories, relating to microbes and the epithelial barrier, have been proposed to explain the causes. Clinical studies have led to intervention strategies during the first thousand days, with the most significant being the early introduction of allergenic foods. Other strategies include a healthy diet during pregnancy, continuing allergenic food intake, and vitamin D supplementation. The translation of these strategies into public health and clinical practice is still a work in progress, and long-term population studies are crucial for assessing their feasibility.
