Summary: This study aimed to determine the effect of orthobiologic augmentation on the outcome of surgically managed Jones fractures in athletes. The findings suggest that biologically augmented fixation can increase the fracture union rate, but has similar rates of return to play and time to return to play compared to fixation alone.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term cost, health consequences, and cost-effectiveness of EVT in pediatric stroke patients. The results showed that EVT is a cost-effective and cost-saving strategy, resulting in increased QALYs and reduced lifetime costs for children with LVOs.

Summary: Comparing outcomes of fractures treated with 3D-printed casts or conventional fiberglass casts, it was found that both groups showed similar results in terms of X-ray alignment and healing, cast fit, skin irritation, ease of care, and overall satisfaction. However, patients reported significantly better experiences with 3D casts in terms of skin irritation, comfort, satisfaction, and cast care.

Summary: This study evaluates the cost-effectiveness of surgical management of fractures by surgical residents at Kamuzu Central Hospital, showing that the training program is highly cost-effective in reducing disability and morbidity among fracture patients. With an incremental cost of $215 per DALY, each surgeon is estimated to avert approximately 5,570 DALYs during their career.

Summary: The study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of proactive versus reactive therapeutic drug monitoring of adalimumab in pediatric patients with Crohn's disease from the perspective of the US health-care provider. Results showed that proactive TDM led to higher quality-adjusted life-years at a lower cost compared to reactive TDM, with ADL drug cost being the most influential factor.

Summary: Robotics in pediatric surgery has shown to be cost-effective with better postoperative outcomes compared to conventional laparoscopic surgery, particularly for complex diseases and longer operative times. The incremental cost of RALS relative to LS is mainly driven by robot consumables and the incremental cost-effectiveness ratios are all below $100,000/QALY, indicating favorable cost-effectiveness for RALS in pediatric surgery.

Summary: This study compared the cost-effectiveness of robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery (RALS) and conventional laparoscopic surgery (LS) in pediatric surgery using Python statistical analysis software. The results showed that although RALS had higher inpatient costs, it had better postoperative outcomes and all four RALS treatments were cost-effective with incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) lower than $100,000/QALY. Children with complex diseases and long operative times may benefit more from RALS.

Summary: There were no significant differences between EUS-GE and OGJ in terms of technical and clinical success, symptom recurrence, reintervention, 30-day readmission, and 30-day mortality. EUS-GE patients experienced shorter delays in resuming oral intake and starting chemotherapy, shorter lengths of stay, and lower overall costs.

Summary: The study found that extending screening mammography to age 80 may have benefits for some women, but the absolute reduction in death rates is small for women with comorbidities. Therefore, women over 75 should weigh the risks and benefits when considering screening mammography.

Summary: Extending mammography screening to age 80 appears to be cost-effective in certain scenarios, but the absolute number of deaths averted is small, especially for women with comorbidities. Women considering screening beyond age 75 should carefully weigh the potential harms of overdiagnosis against the potential benefits of averting breast cancer death.

Summary: This study provides a systematic review of cost-effectiveness studies on vertebral augmentation procedures for osteoporotic vertebral fractures. The results show that both vertebroplasty and balloon kyphoplasty are considered cost-effective alternatives to conservative management in multiple healthcare settings.
