Summary: Two marine bacterial strains were isolated from different sediment samples in Quanzhou bay, China, sharing similar characteristics and being classified as the same species. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and whole genome sequences indicated that these two strains formed a new genus within the family Flavobacteriaceae, showing phylogenetic differences with known bacterial genera.

Summary: Five novel halophilic archaeal strains were isolated from coastal saline sediments and sea salt in China. They demonstrated typical morphology and growth characteristics and showed high similarities with existing species. However, based on genetic and phylogenetic analyses, it is confirmed that these strains represent five new species. This is the first report of a novel haloarchaeon isolated from a marine intertidal zone.

Summary: A Gram-stain-negative strain WSW3-B12(T), which is a long rod-shaped bacterium and tested positive for oxidase and catalase, was isolated from red algae in the West Sea, Korea. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that the strain WSW3-B12(T) is closely related to Flexithrix dorotheae DSM 6795(T) and Rapidithrix thailandica TISTR 1750(T) in the family Flammeovirgaceae. The whole genome sequencing showed that the strain has 29 contigs, with one circular chromosome and 28 plasmids.
