Summary: A Gram-negative strain, RN2-1(T), was isolated from a Korean forest soil sample. It is characterized as aerobic, oxidase-positive, catalase-negative, non-motile, oval/rod-shaped, and can grow in a wide pH and temperature range. The strain belongs to a novel genus, Limobrevibacterium gyesilva gen. nov., sp. nov., and is closely related to Rhodovastum atsumiense G2-11(T). The whole genome analysis and phenotypic data of strain RN2-1(T) support its distinctive phylogenetic position.

Summary: Six conspecific yeast strains were isolated from rotten wood and fungal fruiting body, which were collected in different locations in Hungary, Germany, and Taiwan. These strains are closely related to Diddensiella santjacobensis, but the differences in their ITS and gene sequences indicate that they may represent a new species, which is named Diddensiella parasantjacobensis.

Summary: During a survey of floricolous yeasts in Portugal, a novel species of the basidiomycetous yeast genus Hannaella was discovered in the flower of an ornamental exotic plant Lantana camara, which is native to Central and South America. Molecular analyses of DNA barcode sequences confirmed the new species, which was named Hannaella floricola sp. nov. It also revealed its close relationship with other species in the genus Hannaella.

Summary: Ecuador is a biodiverse country with a rich tradition of brewing corn-based beer using a wide range of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. Through genetic and domestication processes, different aromas and flavors are produced during fermentation. Studying 94 yeast isolates, researchers identified 15 yeasts with six different RFLP profiles, showing significant differences in chemical and organoleptic characteristics during fermentation. Most of the isolates were found to be potentially useful in producing various beer styles.

Summary: The study demonstrated that nanocellulose spheroids are effective in adsorbing Cr VI from industrial liquid effluents. The most efficient adsorption conditions were found to be at pH 4 and 25 degrees Celsius, with removal percentages reaching over 90%. The adsorption kinetics showed equilibrium was reached within 20 to 30 minutes, and the adsorption isotherms had a high adjustment with Langmuir and Freundlich models.
