Summary: Two novel strains of acid-resistant rods, CY18(T) and CY8, were isolated from the sputum of patients with pulmonary infections. Summary: Six novel facultatively anaerobic, Gram-stain-positive, rod-shaped, non-haemolytic bacteria isolated from animal tissues and human faeces were identified as belonging to the genus Corynebacterium. They were named Corynebacterium zhongnanshanii, Corynebacterium lujinxingii, and Corynebacterium wankanglinii based on phylogenetic analyses. These novel species showed distinctive characteristics in terms of DNA content, relatedness with other species, fatty acids composition, and optimal growth conditions.

Summary: Four new Gram-stain-positive, non-motile and asporous bacilli from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were taxonomically characterized as two novel species of the genus Corynebacterium based on 16S rRNA and rpoB gene sequence analyses. The two novel type strains shared high similarities in gene sequences but were differentiated by TAP-PCR DNA fingerprint and MALDI-TOF MS spectrum patterns.

Summary: Five novel halophilic archaeal strains were isolated from coastal saline sediments and sea salt in China. They demonstrated typical morphology and growth characteristics and showed high similarities with existing species. However, based on genetic and phylogenetic analyses, it is confirmed that these strains represent five new species. This is the first report of a novel haloarchaeon isolated from a marine intertidal zone.
