Summary: The taxonomic status of Clostridium methoxybenzovorans was reassessed, revealing that ATCC 700855T actually belongs to Eubacterium callanderi, not suitable as a reference for taxonomic study. Meanwhile, the original strain SR3T is believed to be a member of Lacrimispora indolis based on high sequence identity and genome analysis.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the taxonomic positions of Anoxybacillus kamchatkensis DSM 14988(T) and Anoxybacillus ayderensis AB04(T) using whole-genome phylogenetic analysis, biochemical, and chemotaxonomic characteristics. The results showed that A. kamchatkensis DSM 14988(T) is a later heterotypic synonym of A. ayderensis AB04(T).

Summary: This article discusses the factors that regulate food intake and suggests that visual cues may play an important role. In the study, participants who unknowingly ate from self-refilling bowls consumed more soup, but they did not perceive themselves as having eaten more or feeling more satiated. A replication study found similar results, highlighting the control visual cues have over food intake.

Summary: The study suggests that the primary foundation of human status allocation psychology is benefit generation rather than cost infliction. While there are strong correlations among predictors, it does not necessarily indicate severe collinearity. The thorough examination of the study is valuable, but further research is required to understand the impact of VIF threshold on the results.

Summary: The article highlights that early tumor shrinkage and depth of response predict prognosis in colorectal cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors, but no cases of pseudoprogression were observed. Discrepancies with other studies may be due to differences in radiological evaluation criteria and timing of imaging.

Summary: In our previous article, we highlighted the constructive role of epidemiology in addressing socioeconomic health inequalities, but also acknowledged the potential harm caused by unquestioned social constructions. In response, Kamphuis et al. welcomed our reflections but posed criticism, prompting us to further clarify our arguments and emphasize the importance of unintended effects, origins and impacts of explanatory concepts, and cultural capital norms in health inequality research.

Summary: Members of the genus Sneathia are fastidious bacteria that predominantly colonize the female genital tract and are significantly associated with reproductive disorders and genital and neonatal disease. A new species, Sneathia vaginalis, was proposed based on high similarities to Sneathia amnii in genotypic and phenotypic traits, recommending the use of this new name in future publications on this taxon.

Summary: Oren and Garrity have recently published 42 new prokaryotic phylum names, including Bacillota, which they consider as a synonym of the published name Firmacutes and its correction Firmicutes. However, the name Firmacutes was initially listed as a division in the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names, suggesting it should be considered valid. Recent rule changes require a named phylum to have a named type genus and be formed by adding the suffix-ota to the stem of the type genus name. Despite the uncertainty, there are practical reasons to retain the name Firmicutes. The matter has been referred to the Judicial Commission for an opinion on its standing and retention.

Summary: According to European Directives, water intended for human consumption in Europe must meet specific sanitary criteria, including the absence of certain bacterial indicators. Heterotrophic bacteria in drinking water are used to assess water quality. The development of a MALDI-TOF MS library for drinking water bacteria has the potential to improve the identification of bacteria present in drinking water.

Summary: Two strains of bacteria isolated from activated sludge in a seawater-based wastewater treatment plant in Spain were found to be potentially new taxa. One strain was distantly related to Vicingus serpentipes and other members of the order Flavobacteriales, while the other strain was a putative new species of Lysobacter. Based on a comprehensive taxonomic analysis, new taxa were proposed.

Summary: Judicial Opinion 128 addresses nomenclatural issues regarding class names in the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes. It confirms that the suffix -proteobacteria does not indicate a joint taxonomic or phylogenetic placement. It also clarifies the nomenclatural type of Mollicutes and explains that the rejection of a name does not automatically include other names with similar spelling but different ranks. Additionally, it corrects the orthography of several class names.
