Summary: The study shows that the RT in the central macula is the thinnest, followed by the inner ring, and the outer ring is the thickest. Age and gender are related to RT, and these factors should be considered when interpreting RT.

Summary: This study explored factors associated with meniscus volume in knees without radiographic OA features and OA symptoms. The results showed that modifiable factors (varus alignment, BMI, physical activity level, and quadriceps muscle strength) and non-modifiable factors (higher age, injury, meniscus pathologies, meniscus extrusion, and cartilage lesions) were all associated with meniscus volume or meniscus volume loss over time.

Summary: This study aims to explore the distribution differences of common risk factors between coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke in China. The study found substantial differences in the distribution of risk factors for CHD and stroke, indicating the need for specific prevention and control measures based on these differences.

Summary: In rural Upper Guinea, domestic risk factors for increased rodent abundance include having more than 8 holes, the presence of rodent burrows, and being in a multi-room square building, with rodent burrows being the most addressable factor. Further research is needed to explore the relationship between domestic rodent abundance and LF risk, identify domestic risk factors, and assess the impact of household rodent-proofing interventions on LF control.

Summary: This study found a high prevalence of significant or more liver fibrosis in the general population in Korea and even higher among individuals with risk factors. Factors associated with liver fibrosis included age, male sex, diabetes, HBsAg positivity, abnormal liver function test, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.

Summary: A comparison of cardiovascular risk factors between populations with and without osteoarthritis in the UK over 25 years revealed a consistently higher prevalence of modifiable risk factors in individuals with osteoarthritis, especially when multiple risk factors were present. Findings suggest the importance of addressing cardiovascular risk factors, particularly obesity, in individuals with osteoarthritis.

Summary: This study examined the temporal trends in primary care visits, physiotherapy visits, and the use of NSAIDs and opioids in patients with knee osteoarthritis who have and have not undergone knee replacement surgery. The results showed that the management of these patients is largely similar, except for higher use of NSAIDs in knee replacement cases. Symptomatic treatments start to increase a few years before the surgery in knee replacement cases.

Summary: This study assessed the seropositivity of Brucella infection in dairy animals and associated risk factors in the Indian states of Bihar and Assam. They found that seropositivity was higher in Assam than in Bihar, and urban areas had higher rates compared to rural areas. Factors such as herd size, age of animals, and use of artificial insemination were identified as significant risk factors for Brucella seropositivity in dairy animals.

Summary: This study suggests that warfarin use is associated with a higher risk of knee and hip replacements compared to DOAC use. Furthermore, longer duration of warfarin use is linked to an increased risk of joint replacement.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the incidence and prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and interstitial lung diseases (ILD) in the Canterbury region of New Zealand, as well as the clinical characteristics, risk factors, and long-term outcomes of RA-ILD. The study will identify individuals with RA and RA-ILD through retrospective review of medical records, and analyze the association between the development of ILD and clinical characteristics and environmental exposures. The results will provide valuable insights into the population of RA-ILD and contribute to the understanding of the disease.

Summary: This study tested an asynchronous telediagnostic system that allows individuals without prior ultrasound experience to effectively scan the liver, gallbladder, and right kidney with a high degree of agreement with standard of care ultrasound. This system can be deployed to improve access to diagnostic imaging in low-resource areas.

Summary: This study in rural Bangladesh examined the prevalence of underweight, overweight, and obesity, finding that underweight was most common among those over 60, while overweight and obesity were more prevalent in the 31-40 age group. Women, literate individuals, married individuals, housewives, and red meat consumers were more likely to be overweight or obese. Conversely, consuming added salt and inadequate amounts of fruits and vegetables decreased the odds of being overweight or obese.

Summary: In rural Ghana, there is a high incidence of childhood injuries, with common mechanisms being falls, lacerations, burns, and violence. Some common modifiable household risk factors were not associated with an increase in household injuries, while the presence of older children was a protective factor.
