Summary: This study compared the dosimetric difference of hypofractionated whole-breast irradiation with sequential boost and simultaneous integrated boost in supine and prone positions, finding that prone SIB-HFWBI may be more suitable for postoperative radiotherapy in early-stage breast cancer patients.

Summary: This meta-analysis compared the efficacy and safety of intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) combined with whole breast irradiation (WBI) versus conventional radiotherapy in early-stage breast cancer patients. The results showed that IORT boost+WBI was more effective than conventional radiotherapy, with electron boost exhibiting better efficacy than x-ray boost. There were no significant differences in cosmetic outcome and toxicity between the two groups, but the incidence of edema was significantly reduced in the IORT boost+WBI group.

Summary: This study investigated the patient and clinical factors that may contribute to larger lumpectomy cavities after breast-conserving surgery. Longer interval from surgery, higher BMI, receipt of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, presence of hypertension, and racial disparity were associated with larger lumpectomy cavity volume. These findings can help guide the selection of patients for smaller partial breast irradiation target volumes.

Summary: Microbeam radiotherapy (MRT) has shown high therapeutic potential and good preservation of normal tissue function. This study investigated the suitability of MRT as a simultaneously integrated boost (SIB) in conventional whole-brain irradiation (WBRT) and found that delivering MRT SIB on the first day of the irradiation course had a stronger tumoricidal effect on cancer cells.

Summary: The study found that the differences in physician-assessed toxicity and photographic analysis between simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) and sequential boost (SEB) at two years were very small and not significant, indicating that SIB does not lead to an excess in toxicity or worse cosmetic outcome.

Summary: The study analyzed the effectiveness and cosmetic outcomes of intraoperative electron radiation therapy (IOERT) boost for breast cancer patients. Favorable data on tumor control and survival, as well as cosmetic outcome and acute/early long-term tolerability were reported. The study concluded that IOERT boost had comparable oncologic control rates and improved cosmetic outcomes.

Summary: This study reports the 20-year results of comparing breast conserving surgery followed by partial breast irradiation (PBI) or whole breast irradiation (WBI) for low-risk invasive breast carcinoma. The results showed that PBI provided comparable long-term local tumor control and survival to WBI, with better cosmetic outcomes in the PBI group.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the time trends and factors associated with the use of radiation tumor bed boost (TBB) following breast-conserving surgery for early stage breast cancer patients. The utilization of TBB decreased over time, especially for patients receiving conventional whole-breast irradiation, while increasing for those receiving hypofractionated whole-breast irradiation. Fractionation regimen played a critical role in the changing practice patterns of TBB over time.

Summary: This paper proposes a method for online adaptive monitoring of high-dimensional data in resource-constrained environments with multiple potential failure modes. By applying the Shiryaev-Roberts procedure on the failure mode level and using the multi-arm bandit, the method achieves a balance between exploration and exploitation. Theoretical analysis and experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively isolate failure modes and improve change point detection performance and failure mode isolation accuracy.

Summary: This study aims to compare whole brain radiation therapy for synchronous brain metastases with irradiation protecting the hippocampus against whole brain radiotherapy for sequential brain metastases to boost irradiation in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) brain metastases. The study will assess the efficacy of tomotherapy in treating SCLC brain metastases while protecting the hippocampus and minimizing neurocognitive impairments.

Summary: The study showed that IMRT-SIB was associated with slightly better quality of life in breast cancer treatment, particularly in terms of pain and arm symptoms. However, there was significant improvement in global score after 2 years, but slight deterioration in role functioning, social functioning, and future perspectives.
