Summary: This study compared the efficacy and safety of hyperfractionation with standard fractionation in intensity-modulated radiotherapy. The results showed that hyperfractionation significantly reduced the incidence of severe late complications and improved overall survival, suggesting that it could be used as the standard of care for patients with locally advanced recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the optimal radiotherapy dose for clinically positive LPLN from LARC. Results showed a significantly lower 2-year LPLN regrowth rate in the SIB-IMRT group compared to the non-SIB-IMRT group, especially for patients with LPLN measuring >= 8mm in the short axis or >= 10mm in the long axis.

Summary: The study found that dysphagia-optimised intensity-modulated radiotherapy (DO-IMRT) improved swallowing function and reduced radiation dose-related damage in patients with oropharyngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers. Therefore, DO-IMRT should be considered as a new standard treatment for patients receiving radiotherapy for pharyngeal cancers.

Summary: This study compared different radiotherapy plans for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and found that helical tomotherapy (HT) and volume-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) had better target homogeneity and conformity. HT also showed the best reduction in doses delivered to organs at risk. VMAT, on the other hand, had the shortest treatment time and improved radiation delivery efficiency.

Summary: This study compared deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) with free breathing (FB) in patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC) treated with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). DIBH resulted in smaller target volumes and similar target coverage compared to FB. DIBH reduced lung and heart dose, as well as the risk of radiation pneumonitis and 2-year mortality, for a significant number of LA-NSCLC patients. However, the benefits varied among patients and were dependent on tumor location.

Summary: The study demonstrated that split-course hypofractionated radiation therapy with concurrent chemotherapy (HRT-CHT) achieved a promising response rate and survival with tolerable toxicity in patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LANSCLC). Pulmonary function tests are necessary indicators for radiation treatment planning and dose escalation.

Summary: The PARCER study compared late toxicity after IG-IMRT with 3D-CRT in cervical cancer patients undergoing postoperative radiation, finding that IG-IMRT resulted in reduced gastrointestinal toxicity and improved patients' quality of life. However, there was no significant difference in disease outcomes between the two treatment methods.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic impact of clinical and pathological variables and patterns of recurrence in patients with advanced cervical cancer involving pelvic lymph nodes. The results showed that pelvic lymph node size and incomplete response to radiotherapy negatively affected overall survival in these patients.

Summary: In this study, the efficacy and safety of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for pleural recurrence of thymoma not suitable for surgery were evaluated. IMRT was found to be an alternative treatment option, with higher dose leading to longer local control time and no serious toxicities within normal-tissue dose limitation. Out-of-field recurrence was common, while caution should be taken for repeated IMRT due to the risk of radiation-induced pneumonitis.

Summary: This study evaluated the incidence of non-classic radiation-induced liver disease (ncRILD) in patients with locally advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), and established a nomogram for predicting the probability of ncRILD. The results showed an acceptable incidence of ncRILD and the predictive model demonstrated good performance.

Summary: In this observational retrospective study, it was found that the addition of modulated electrohyperthermia (mEHT) to concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) improved the therapeutic response in locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) patients with lymph node metastasis. The complete remission rate and no-evidence-of-disease rate were significantly higher in LACC cases treated with CCRT + mEHT compared to CCRT alone. Disease-free survival also increased in the CCRT + mEHT group with lymph node metastasis.

Summary: This study assessed acute and late toxicity in post-operative oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma patients treated with adjuvant dysphagia optimized intensity-modulated radiotherapy (Do-IMRT) versus standard IMRT (S-IMRT). The results showed that Do-IMRT led to less oral pain and late dysphagia without compromising locoregional control, suggesting that limiting doses to dysphagia aspiration-related structures can reduce toxicity.
