Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of salvage radiotherapy in patients with supraclavicular lymph node (SCLN) metastases after esophagectomy. The results showed that salvage radiotherapy improved the survival rate, and the radiation dose and treatment method were important prognostic factors.

Summary: This study compared the clinical outcomes of two salvage treatments for LNP prostate cancer patients, ADT alone versus ADT with RT, and found that the combination of ADT with RT was associated with better biochemical failure and progression-free survival. Patients with more than two positive lymph nodes or elevated PSA levels after RP seemed to benefit more from salvage treatment with ADT plus RT.

Summary: Radiotherapy for PLM improved pain intensity and pain interference, showing a pain response rate of 66%, 67%, and 57% at 1-, 2-, and 3-month follow-ups, respectively. The study suggests that palliative radiotherapy may be a viable treatment option for PLM, and pain response can be assessed using the International Consensus Endpoint.

Summary: In a retrospective study of SBRT for MHL, moderate rates of grade >= 3 toxicity were observed, although most were transient. The treatment resulted in low LF rates and potentially delayed SCST for many patients.

Summary: The results of three randomized clinical trials comparing adjuvant radiotherapy (ART) and early salvage radiotherapy (eSRT) for prostate carcinoma were recently published. The findings suggest that early eSRT is as effective and potentially less toxic than ART. Therefore, eSRT should be considered the standard of care. However, ART remains a valid treatment option for patients with high-risk features.

Summary: The study included 390 patients with treatment-naive unfavorable intermediate- or high-risk prostate cancer. The rate of bone metastases was 10% in high-risk group and 0.8% in unfavorable intermediate-risk group. Patients with radT3-4 showed a four-fold increased risk of lymph node metastases.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term node field control and survival of melanoma patients with node field recurrence following prior node dissection who underwent salvage surgery with adjuvant radiotherapy. The results showed that while adjuvant radiotherapy achieved control of the node field, disease progression at distant sites was common and the survival outcomes were poor.

Summary: Magnetometer-guided sentinel lymph node dissection in prostate cancer patients detected more sentinel lymph nodes per patient and predicted lymph node involvement rates equally well compared to the standard technique. This study confirmed the reliability of magnetometer-guided sentinel lymph node dissection and emphasized the importance of the sentinel technique in detecting lymph node metastases in prostate cancer.

Summary: The study evaluated the relationship between deep inguinal lymph node metastasis and pelvic lymph node metastasis in PSCC, finding that deep ILNM is the most accurate factor for predicting PLNM. Patients with deep ILNM should be referred for pelvic lymph node dissection, as it indicates poor prognosis.

Summary: The study evaluated the outcomes of pre-biopsy MRI pathways in biopsy-naive men with suspicion of prostate cancer in routine clinical practice. The results showed that pre-biopsy MRI can be used as a decision tool without compromising cancer detection rates and with a higher biopsy avoidance rate. There were comparable cancer detection and complication rates between TR- and TP-MRDB.

Summary: In males with classic 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21OHD), testicular adrenal rest tumors (TART) contribute to the androgen excess by producing 11oxC19 steroids at different proportions than the adrenals. The high ratio of 11 beta-hydroxytestosterone (11OHT) in the spermatic vein suggests the 11-hydroxylation of testosterone by TART, and in vitro results indicate that this metabolism is ACTH-sensitive.

Summary: This study compared two standard hydrocortisone timing strategies in young patients with 21-hydroxylase deficiency, either highest dosage in the morning or evening, and found no clear benefit for either schedule in terms of hormonal status, nocturnal blood pressure, and sleep and activity scores. Individual optimization of dose distribution and monitoring disease control at multiple time points is recommended due to variation in individual responses.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of hyperbaric oxygen treatment on osteoradionecrosis (ORN) of the mandible through two randomized controlled multicentre trials. The results showed that hyperbaric oxygen did not significantly improve the healing outcome of ORN after surgical removal of necrotic bone. However, it was associated with improved xerostomia, salivary flow rate, and dysphagia.

Summary: APOBEC3B (A3B) is overexpressed in a subset of breast cancers and is associated with advanced disease, poor prognosis, and treatment resistance. The causes of A3B dysregulation in breast cancer remain unclear. In this study, A3B expression levels were quantified in cell lines and breast tumors and related to cell cycle markers. It was found that A3B expression is heterogeneous and strongly associated with the proliferation marker Cyclin B1. Dysregulated A3B overexpression in breast cancer is proposed to be the result of relief from repression and pathway activation during the G(2)/M phase of the cell cycle.

Summary: Testicular adrenal rest tumors (TARTs) may arise from chronic stimulation of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-sensitive cells in the testes. However, this study found that the human fetal testis (HFT) is unresponsive to ACTH, suggesting that TARTs do not arise from fetal testicular cells chronically exposed to ACTH in utero.
