Summary: Psychological resilience is associated with diurnal salivary cortisol levels in young adults. A high burden of early adversity may disrupt the physiological stress system, while psychological health may be associated with more normative cortisol levels when adversity is low.

Summary: This study explored the relationship between diurnal salivary cortisol values and sarcopenia diagnosis in postmenopausal women. The findings showed that sarcopenic women had higher salivary cortisol levels at 11 AM and 8 PM. Additionally, salivary cortisol levels were inversely correlated with grip strength.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate how different baseline states of mind affect the diurnal patterns of salivary stress biomarkers. The results showed that cortisol and alpha-amylase levels were highest on stressful days and lowest on relaxing days, while chromogranin A levels showed the opposite pattern. The study also found that mindfulness practice had different effects on these biomarkers compared to a general relaxed state of mind.

Summary: This study explored morning cortisol levels and stress responses in psychopathic offenders, non-psychopathic offenders, and non-offender controls. The researchers found that psychopathic offenders exhibited significantly lower cortisol levels during a stress task compared to controls, while non-psychopathic offenders showed a similar but non-significant trend. However, there were no significant differences in cortisol response slopes among the three groups.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the diurnal variation in salivary progesterone levels during the menstrual cycle among Indian women. A longitudinal study was conducted with a small sample size of 31 fertile Indian women, and it was found that there was a significant diurnal variation in progesterone levels across the menstrual cycle, with higher levels in the morning.

Summary: Salivary cortisol stress biomarkers are commonly used in epidemiological research to examine the relationship between stress and health problems. However, there has been limited effort to connect these measures with the biological mechanisms involved in stress-related health outcomes. This study found associations between cortisol diurnal decline and feedback sensitivity, as well as between morning cortisol levels and adrenal sensitivity. It also raised questions about the biological meaning of other curve components, such as morning cortisol levels and the cortisol awakening response.

Summary: This study compared the diurnal patterns of cortisol, amylase, and chromogranin A in saliva. The results showed that cortisol exhibited the least variation among individuals, while chromogranin A showed the highest variation. Factors such as BMI, age, and gender were found to affect the levels of these biomarkers.

Summary: Determination of corticosterone level in rabbit saliva has advantages of non-invasiveness, welfare preservation, and reliable reflection of the animal's state. This study aimed to determine the diurnal rhythm of corticosterone concentration in domestic rabbit saliva. Results showed a significant increase in corticosterone levels between 12:00 and 15:00, displaying a diurnal rhythm. There was no statistically significant difference in individual rabbit saliva corticosterone concentrations.

Summary: Neuroticism is associated with emotional variability, and individuals with higher neuroticism experience greater fluctuation in negative emotions. Previous studies may have been affected by the limitation of bounded rating scales, where individuals with lower neuroticism tend to choose the lowest possible response option, constraining the observed emotional variability. A new study using Bayesian censored location-scale models found clear evidence that higher neuroticism is linked to greater variability in negative emotion.

Summary: Anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric disorders in Western countries. Psychedelic drug psilocybin may be effective in alleviating anxiety symptoms. This study investigated the effects of psilocybin on self-reported healthy volunteers' anxiety ratings in a supportive group setting. The results showed that psilocybin can rapidly and persistently reduce anxiety symptoms, with effects lasting up to one week. Additionally, psilocybin use increased mindfulness and decreased neuroticism.

Summary: This review evaluates the effectiveness of psychological interventions to facilitate breastfeeding for mothers facing difficulties around the time of delivery. The evidence suggests that relaxation interventions tailored to address perinatal emotional distress may lead to important health benefits, including improvement in breastfeeding outcomes. Stress-releasing techniques are supported for facilitating breastfeeding, while self-hypnosis did not show an association with breastfeeding outcomes.

Summary: The study investigated the consistency between ratings from different sources for the Spanish Child and Adolescent Behavior Inventory (CABI). The results showed substantial agreement between father and mother ratings, while teacher ratings showed smaller to moderate agreement with mother ratings on different scales. The study highlights the importance of using independent and context-specific measures to better understand the variability in consistency between teacher and mother ratings.

Summary: The main objective of this study was to compare children selected in a community setting with ADHD, high-performance, and normo-typical development on a sustained attention task. Children with high-performance were clearly differentiated from the other two groups, with large effect sizes. The CSAT-R showed good specificity and an acceptable positive predictive value, but low levels of sensitivity, and a poor negative predictive value. Therefore, sustained attention could be a prominent mechanism in children with high capacities. The CSAT-R (and probably most of attentional tasks) would be moderately useful in community settings for ADHD diagnosis, but not to rule it out.

The results show that the LPE-only group scored higher on social impairment, peer rejection, and academic impairment compared to the comparison group. However, the ODD + LPE group did not consistently score higher than the ODD-only group.

Summary: The main objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome (CDS) and sleep problems in children and their differential contribution to various psychopathological measures. The study found significant correlations between CDS and sleep problems in both parents, but weak correlations between parents and children. The scores of CDS and the sleep disturbance scale for children (SDSC) significantly predicted internalizing symptoms and ADHD, particularly the relationship between SDSC and depression.

Summary: This study replicated data on the external validity of the Sluggish Cognitive Tempo (SCT) dimension versus ADHD inattention (IN) and found that SCT had almost no relationship with externalizing measures, while both SCT and IN were related to internalizing and social interaction measures. This suggests that SCT has a unique predictive capacity for anxiety, depression, and shyness problems and functions as a protective measure for externalizing problems.

Summary: ADHD is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder commonly found in children and adolescents. Detecting ADHD in the preschool stage allows for early intervention and potential modification of symptoms. Clinical symptoms of ADHD in preschoolers are less frequent, with hyperactive/impulsive presentation being the most common. Evaluation includes detecting comorbid psychopathology and using reliable symptom assessment scales. Family interventions are commonly used, while pharmacological treatment is not recommended before the age of 6. However, treatment effectiveness is not well established.

The findings revealed that longitudinal networks provided some useful insights for ADHD, but many of the findings were consistent with latent variable model analyses. Summary: In this study, electroencephalogram data was analyzed to compare the resting network activation between heavy media multitaskers (HMM) and light media multitaskers (LMM). The results showed that HMM had weaker activation in the attention network, but enhanced activation in the salience network. They also had an enhanced visual network and may feel less comfortable during resting-state periods. This suggests that chronic media multitasking leads to a bottom-up or stimulus-driven allocation of attention for HMM, while LMM use a top-down approach.
