Summary: An improved ant colony optimization algorithm is proposed to improve the match degree of operators and tasks in garment assembly lines with parallel workstations. Experimental results show the algorithm reduces efficiency loss of labor divisions and enhances workflow efficiency. Strategies for creating parallel workstations in assembly line are provided based on the trade-off relation between labor division and line arrangement efficiency.

Summary: This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning approach to solve the assembly sequence planning (ASP) problem, aiming to improve response speed by leveraging the reusability and expandability of past decision-making experiences. Through steps like instance generation algorithm, mask algorithm, and Monte Carlo sampling method, the assembly cost is minimized effectively under precedence constraints. It is demonstrated that the method accurately and efficiently solves the ASP problem in an environment with dynamic resource changes.

Summary: This paper focuses on optimizing Mixed-model assembly lines with continuous paced line control and proposes a criterion-space method for defining the Pareto front. Comparing the Pareto fronts between cycle time and line length for paced and unpaced lines allows meaningful comparisons between line controls. An industrial case study suggests that paced lines are more efficient than unpaced lines for lower cycle time ranges.

Summary: The study addresses a mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing problem, aiming to minimize the number of mated-stations while also considering the total number of operators. An exact algorithm based on combinatorial Benders decomposition is proposed, along with a sequence-based enumerative search method to calculate effective combinatorial Benders cuts. Extensive computational experiments demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed solution in finding exact solutions even for large-sized instances.
