Summary: Cationic nanoparticles have shown to be effective in cancer immunotherapy by delivering tumor-associated antigens to dendritic cells and inducing strong antigen-specific cellular immune responses. Lipid- and polymer-based cationic nanoparticles are utilized for different types of cancer vaccines, and their potential in T-cell induction is discussed for therapeutic cancer vaccination.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of hydrophilic surfactants on the membrane elasticity of liposomes and their effect on the skin absorption of vitamin C. Encapsulation of vitamin C inside cationic liposomes is aimed at improving its delivery to the skin. Elastic liposomes (ELs) formed by the addition of Polysorbate 80 to conventional liposomes (CLs) were compared. The presence of a positive charge in the liposomal membrane significantly increases the encapsulation efficacy of both CLs and ELs, indicating a potential mechanism involving interactions between cationic lipids and vitamin C during skin diffusion.

Summary: The study focused on the development of cationic fusogenic liposomes with intercalated radioactive [I-131]I- for potential therapeutic applications. Experiment results showed that these liposomes, with high membrane fusion ability, had a special delivery pathway and exhibited excellent delivery efficiency in in vitro experiments, suitable for invasive cancer cell models.

Summary: This study reveals that exosomes secreted from pulmonary adenocarcinoma cells enhance osteoclastogenesis and osseous resorption by downregulating neuropilin 2 expression. These findings shed light on the mechanism of osseous metastases in pulmonary carcinoma and provide a potential nanodrug for treating bone metastases.

Summary: This study explored the combination of cationic liposomal hydroxycamptothecin (CLH) and 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) for chemo-sonodynamic therapy (Chemo-SDT) of metastatic lung cancer via intratracheal administration. The results demonstrated that this combination showed higher anticancer efficacy by enhancing cancer cell apoptosis and reactive oxygen species production.

Summary: Liposome-based drug delivery systems are nanosized spherical lipid bilayer carriers that can encapsulate a broad range of small and large drug molecules. While there are FDA-approved liposomal-based medicines, including an inhalable therapy, asymmetric liposomes have not yet been approved due to formulation and stability challenges. This review explores the potential of asymmetric liposomes as future carriers for enhancing drug delivery, particularly in pulmonary nanotherapeutics.

Summary: Immunotherapy using immunostimulatory agents delivered intratumorally has shown promising efficacy in the treatment of lung cancer. Encapsulation of unmethylated oligodeoxynucleotides containing CpG motifs (CpG) and polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (poly I:C) double-stranded RNA in liposomes can enhance their antitumor activity by increasing uptake by lung phagocytes and activating toll-like receptors. CpG encapsulation in DOTAP/DPPC liposomes significantly enhances its antitumor effects in lung cancer by inducing immune responses and delaying tumor growth.

Summary: TGF-beta serves as a dual role in tumor progression, acting both as a tumor suppressor in the early stages and a metastatic promoter in the later stages. The signaling pathways of TGF-beta are complex, involving both SMAD-dependent and SMAD-independent pathways.

Summary: In this study, cationic nanogels were incorporated into liposomes for stable and enhanced mRNA delivery to cells. The use of DNPR9 with liposomes resulted in enhanced internalization and a 4-fold increase in transfection efficiency compared to control liposomes. The condensation strategy using DNPR9 can be widely applied to enhance the efficacy of various lipid-based formulations.

Summary: Anti-angiogenic therapies targeting VEGF signaling have shown temporary benefits in cancer treatment, with resistance often developing due to the upregulation of other growth factors like bFGF. Recent efforts have focused on developing multi-target anti-angiogenic drugs to overcome resistance mechanisms and improve outcomes in clinical practice.

Summary: The study demonstrates that bFGF plays a key regulatory role between S-nitrosylation homeostasis and inflammation, alleviating endothelial dysfunction and angiogenic defects in diabetes. Under conditions of hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia, bFGF was found to suppress inflammation via the S-nitrosylation pathway.

Summary: This study demonstrates that bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have vasculogenic properties. Different populations of MSCs vary in angiogenic factor expression and vasculogenic properties. The vasculogenic MSCs (vMSCs), distinct from endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), may contribute to neovascularization and could be a promising cellular therapy for cardiovascular diseases.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the loading of sildenafil citrate in three commercial transdermal vehicles using 3D full-thickness skin equivalent and compare the results with permeability experiments using porcine skin. The results showed that the results obtained using the 3D skin equivalent were comparable to those obtained using porcine skin, suggesting that the 3D skin model can be a valid alternative for ex-vivo skin absorption experiments.
