Summary: Icariin benefits MRONJ by improving soft tissue wound area and empty bone lacuna ratio, while teriparatide activates RANKL expression and reduces bone necrosis area and empty lacuna ratio. These findings suggest potential therapeutic benefits for patients with MRONJ.

Summary: This case-control study examined the therapeutic effects of daily or weekly administration of teriparatide in the management of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). The results showed that both daily and weekly injection groups had significantly faster healing compared to the control groups. Complete resolution of MRONJ was more likely in participants who received teriparatide injections.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the preventive effect of ozonated oil on the development of MRONJ-like lesions at tooth extraction sites in rats receiving zoledronic acid treatment. While there was no statistically significant difference in the average area of vital and necrotic bone between the groups, ozonated oil appeared to reduce osteonecrosis development. Further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: The study demonstrated that preoperative PTH administration significantly reduced the number of empty lacunae and increased the number of blood vessels, suggesting more viable bone tissue in this group. However, postoperative PTH administration showed no significant differences compared to controls. Therefore, preoperative PTH use may represent a better prophylactic regimen for preventing MRONJ.

Summary: The study identified a lead SNP, rs2736308 on chromosome 8, associated with an increased risk of MRONJ in patients with cancer and osteoporosis. This SNP is linked to genes regulating bone mineral density, providing insights into the potential mechanism of MRONJ.

Summary: This review examines the role and efficacy of teriparatide in treating MRONJ, finding significant variations in treatment outcomes and weak evidence quality. While teriparatide may be effective in treating refractory MRONJ in osteoporotic patients, further larger-scale, long-term randomized clinical trials are needed to confirm its efficacy.

Summary: This study revealed that long-term use of bisphosphonates such as Zoledronic Acid (ZA) may lead to Bisphosphonate-related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (BRONJ) by inhibiting macrophage efferocytosis and promoting osteocytic apoptosis. Additionally, supplementing with geranylgeraniol (GGOH) can restore Rac1 homeostasis and rescue macrophage efferocytosis, potentially providing a new treatment approach for BRONJ.

Summary: This study aimed to establish the importance of risk factors in the development of MRONJ in cancer patients receiving zoledronic acid therapy. The analysis of 174 cancer patients revealed that treatment duration, chemotherapy, and hypertension were risk factors, while endocrine therapy and obesity were protective factors for MRONJ.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between PPARγ and PPARGC1A polymorphisms and the development of BRONJ in female osteoporosis patients undergoing bisphosphonate treatment. The results showed that PPARGC1A rs2946385 and rs10020457 polymorphisms were significantly associated with BRONJ. Patients with the combined genotypes of GG in both PPARγ rs1151999 and PPARGC1A rs2946385 had a higher risk of BRONJ. Old age (≥70 years) and long duration of bisphosphonate use (≥60 months) also increased the risk of BRONJ.

Summary: This study examined the social perception of the COVID-19 pandemic and evaluated the public's knowledge, opinions, and emotional condition regarding COVID-19. The results showed that there were differences in knowledge and perception of COVID-19 among different factors such as living in rural areas, low education level, and socioeconomic level. While almost all of the society recognized COVID-19 as a highly contagious disease, they had different perspectives on their risk of getting the disease. The majority of the society (90.2%) considered social distancing measures to be very effective in preventing the spread of the disease.
