Summary: The purpose of this study was to explore the development and association between symptoms of Late Radiation Tissue Injuries (LRTIs) and health related quality of life (HRQoL) following hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The results showed significant improvements in both LRTIs and HRQoL after the therapy, especially in symptom severity reduction and improvements in social and role functions. This suggests that cancer survivors with LRTIs and impaired HRQoL may benefit from undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Summary: HBOT has potential new treatment applications in preconditioning for surgery, reducing complications rates and hospital stay by reducing inflammation and promoting angiogenesis through oxidative stress modulation. Further research is needed to determine the implications of these findings for clinical practice.

Summary: Two different sequencing strategies of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and radiation therapy in prostate cancer (PCa) were investigated for their impact on health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) in this study. The results showed no significant differences in urinary and bowel symptoms between adjuvant and neoadjuvant approaches, but the adjuvant approach was associated with a reduced risk of deterioration in sexual function.

Summary: A growing body of evidence suggests that hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) can affect the activity of adult neural stem cells (NSCs). In this study, the effects of sensorimotor cortex ablation (SCA) and HBO treatment (HBOT) on neurogenesis in the adult dentate gyrus (DG) were investigated. The results showed that SCA caused significant loss of neurons in the DG, while HBOT prevented the reduction of dendritic arborization and increased proliferation of progenitor cells.

Summary: The study investigated the quality of life outcomes of ARDS patients treated with ECMO at 6 months. The majority of patients had near-normal pulmonary function and good quality of life, but a considerable proportion experienced anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms. Summary: The study found significant associations between markers of social functioning and depression and health-related quality of life among head and neck cancer survivors. Difficulty with social eating and contact was positively correlated with depression and negatively correlated with quality of life. Effective interventions addressing social eating and contact are crucial for improving outcomes for survivors.

Summary: The review suggests that early naturalistic interventions can have positive impacts on the speech development of children with cleft palate with or without cleft lip. However, the overall methodological quality of the publications is weak, and there is a lack of clarity and specificity in terms of therapy technique, delivery, and optimal age of delivery in the current evidence. Future research should use more robust methodological designs to determine the effectiveness of early speech interventions for children born with cleft palate with or without cleft lip.

Summary: A feasibility study was conducted on The Fluency Trust Residential Course (FTRC) for adolescents who stutter. The results showed that recruitment, retention, and outcome measure completion rates were all 100%. The intervention fidelity was 95% and there were no adverse events. The outcome measures demonstrated good test re-test reliability and the acceptability of the intervention by adolescents was high. The conclusion suggests that a future definitive trial of the FTRC is indicated after additional development work and feasibility testing.

Summary: This study highlights the complexity of recruitment to intrapartum research and the challenges women face in understanding and making decisions during urgent interventions. The time pressures of intrapartum interventions make recruitment discussions difficult, yet little is known about these interactions. The study proposes a framework for good practice in information provision to address the concerns of women and midwives and ensure fair inclusion in intrapartum trials.

Summary: The study aimed to examine the diagnostic accuracy of mammogram readers to interpret abbreviated breast MRI (abMRI) after a single day of training and compare the performance between experienced and inexperienced readers of full-protocol breast MRI (fpMRI). The results showed that inexperienced readers had lower diagnostic accuracy compared to experienced readers, suggesting the need for additional training.
