Summary: The study aimed to compare Locator(R) and ball attachments for implant-retained overdentures in terms of prosthetic maintenance and patients' oral-health-related quality of life. Results showed that patients using the Locator(R) system required less maintenance measures and had better OHRQoL compared to those using ball attachments.

Summary: This study assessed the long-term prosthetic aftercare and oral hygiene status in edentulous patients rehabilitated with mandibular implant-supported overdenture. The results showed that the use of ball attachments yielded less need for aftercare treatments and improved oral hygiene status.

Summary: The study evaluated survival rates and marginal bone loss of IC-RPDs compared to IODs in mandibular edentulism, finding higher survival rates and less bone loss with IC-RPDs. Functional and esthetic satisfaction of patients significantly improved with both treatments.

Summary: This in vitro study compared the wear behavior of two different attachment systems of dissimilar materials in mandibular implant-retained overdentures. The study found that the attachment system with a titanium-to-titanium interface had more wear than the system with a titanium-to-nylon interface.

Summary: The study compared prosthetic aftercare between patients with two vs. four mandibular implant-retained overdentures and found that the use of four implants was more beneficial in relieving pressure sore spots. However, the number of implants did not have an influence on mechanical wear.

Summary: The objective of this study was to compare stress distribution in maxillary bone, dental implants, and prosthetic components for implant-supported maxillary overdentures with partial palatal coverage in both splinted and unsplinted designs. Two maxillary overdenture models were designed using Exocad Dental CAD program, including cancellous and cortical bone. Patient-specific 3D X-ray scans were analyzed using 3D QCT/FEA method. According to the results, the splinted design showed lower stress in bone tissue and dental implant parts.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the implant prosthesis and patient-reported outcomes of complete dentures retained by four implant-supported attachments in the maxilla over a 5-year period. Results showed a prosthesis survival rate of 85.2% and an implant survival rate of 80.6%. Prosthodontic success rate decreased over time and patient satisfaction improved significantly after implant-supported retention.

Summary: Immediate loading has been introduced in unsplinted mandibular implant-retained overdentures for edentulous patients, aiming to compare the marginal bone loss (MBL) between immediate and delayed loading protocols. The study found no significant difference in MBL between immediate and delayed loading, indicating that immediate loading may be a promising alternative for managing unsplinted mandibular implant-retained overdentures.

Summary: This study compared the clinical and radiographic evaluations of implant-crown-retained removable partial dentures (IC-RPD) and implant overdentures (IOD) in maxillary edentulous patients. The results showed that IC-RPD had higher implant survival rates and lower marginal bone loss compared to IOD, with factors such as peri-implantitis and age influencing implant outcomes. Functional and esthetic satisfaction were significantly improved in both treatment groups, but IOD had more frequent prosthetic complications.

Summary: This study examined the retentive characteristics of different retentive element materials and their performance after thermocycling using a two implant-retained mandibular overdenture model. The results showed that the percentage of retention loss significantly increased over time for PEEK, nylon, and PVS silicone. Nylon and PEEK, which have strong polar groups, exhibited a higher rate of retention loss compared to polyvinylsiloxane.

Summary: This study reviewed the application and maintenance of attachment systems in implant-retained overdentures. The initial retention force of cylindrical systems is higher, but this advantage decreases over time. Plastic retention devices wear out faster but have similar maintenance rates compared to metal ones. There is no clear superiority between ball and cylindrical systems.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of different fabrication techniques and materials on implant-supported mandibular overdentures with a Hader bar attachment. The use of converting adapters on implants was found to decrease force transmission and improve stress distribution. The type of material used for bar fabrication did not significantly influence stress values.

Summary: The study investigated the long-term performance of tooth-implant-supported and solely implant-supported double-crown-retained overdentures for complete restoration of the jaw over a period of up to 11 years. The results showed high survival and success rates for both types of restoration, but common minor complications required significant aftercare.

Summary: The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of a lingualized occlusal scheme with implant-supported mandibular overdentures in reducing marginal bone loss and increasing stability. Over a period of 6 years, the study assessed marginal bone levels using radiographic evaluation and periodontal health using probing depth index values. The findings showed that the lingualized occlusal scheme successfully transmitted horizontal loads, decreased bone loss, and increased stability.
