Summary: Long-term home mechanical ventilation in children has become more common due to advancements in clinical practices and technology, providing benefits to their quality of life. However, for invasive home ventilation, a suitable home environment, appropriate equipment, and supplies are necessary before discharge from the hospital. The transition from hospital to home requires a well-established plan involving a multidisciplinary team. Readiness for home care involves stabilizing the patient and transitioning from critical care ventilation to home mechanical ventilation. Additionally, comprehensive training on the knowledge and skills needed to safely and confidently use the equipment is essential.
