Summary: In this study, a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial was conducted to investigate the efficacy of a turmeric-boswellia-sesame formulation in relieving primary dysmenorrhea. The results showed that the treatment group had significantly higher pain relief compared to the placebo group.

Summary: This study compared the effects of warm footbath and foot reflexology on the fatigue of patients undergoing radiotherapy, and found that foot reflexology was more effective in reducing fatigue. It is recommended to widely perform simple and low-cost non-pharmacological interventions, such as foot reflexology, to decrease the side effects of radiotherapy among cancer patients.

Summary: This research aimed to develop phenotype algorithms for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) suitable for use in epidemiological studies using empirical evidence from observational databases. Four algorithms were developed, two for prevalent SLE and two for incident SLE, each correcting for possible index date misclassification and errors in classification.

Summary: CRAMP plays a protective role in the mouse colon against inflammation, inflammation-associated carcinogenesis, and disrupted microbiome balance. Epithelial cell-derived CRAMP is crucial for normal development and repair of colon crypts, while myeloid cell-derived CRAMP enhances colon epithelial resistance to bacterial invasion during acute inflammation.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the effect of reflexology with other nonpharmacologic methods on pain perception in newborns during painful procedures. The results showed that all analgesic methods significantly reduced pain perception during heel blood collection. Although sucrose was the most effective method, reflexology also had significant positive effects on average heartbeat, pain reduction, and crying time.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the effect of high-dose dexamethasone versus placebo on cancer-related dyspnoea. The findings showed that high-dose dexamethasone did not improve dyspnoea in patients with cancer more effectively than placebo and was associated with a higher frequency of adverse events.

Summary: The study evaluated the effect of foot reflexology massage on delirium and sleep quality in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. The results showed that foot reflexology did not significantly reduce delirium or improve sleep quality, but did decrease pain intensity. Further research on the pathology and predictive models of delirium is needed for appropriate interventions.

Summary: This study utilized a mobile Health ESM application to assess momentary fatigue in HD patients, revealing variability in fatigue both between and within individuals, with significant relationships to HD treatment days, daily activities, mood, and sleep quality. Interestingly, higher momentary fatigue was found to predict more depressed feelings at a later time point, highlighting the complex interplay between fatigue and emotional well-being.

Summary: This qualitative study aimed to understand the real experiences of self-management in haemodialysis patients with self-regulatory fatigue. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, difficulties, uncertainty, influencing factors, and coping strategies were identified. The findings suggest that understanding the real experiences of self-regulatory fatigue in haemodialysis patients can help medical staff identify fatigue in a timely manner and assist patients in adopting positive coping strategies for effective self-management.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the feasibility of foot reflexology (FR) in a population of inpatients in a palliative care unit (PCU). The results showed that FR was feasible for patients in the palliative care phase of cancer, motor neuron disease, or terminal organ failure, and it resulted in a slight improvement in sleep quality. However, it did not significantly improve other discomfort symptoms such as anxiety, pain, and distress.

Summary: Our study reveals that naproxen can alleviate pain in women with dysmenorrhea by reducing the duration, frequency, and intensity of painful episodes. Before naproxen, there was no significant correlation between bulb squeeze parameters and self-reported pain; however, after naproxen, there was a significant correlation between changes in bulb squeeze activity and self-reported pain relief.
