Human bocavirus (HBoV) is a major etiology of lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in young children. We tested 149 patients admitted to King Fahd Hospital of the University with diagnosis of LRTI. Viremia caused by the different studied viruses was detected in 31.5% of the total cases by Real-time Polymerase chain reaction. We report five patients who were positive for HBoV in serum samples. Clinical presentation ranged from mild to severe disease as one of them required admission to intensive care unit. Wheezing was a striking feature in most of our patients, but fever was not a consistent finding.

Abdullah A. Yousef, Bassam H. Awary, Faisal O. AlQurashi, Waleed H. Albuali, Mohammad H. Al-Qahtani, Syed Husain, Omair Sharif

Summary: This study introduces an innovative method for digitizing the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) evaluation system for medical students and assesses its efficacy compared to the traditional paper-based system through a User Satisfaction Survey. The results show that almost all examiners were satisfied with the Computerized Web-based OSCE Evaluation System (COES), finding it helpful in evaluating students' skills. The use of smart devices (iPads) was also preferred over paper forms. All examiners expressed a preference for using the electronic system in the future.

Alzahra Y. Alradhi, Abdullah Al-Shamarni, Abdullah Yousef

Summary: This case report describes a 4-month-old girl with persistent respiratory distress and multiple admissions to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) due to a congenital bronchogenic cyst. The diagnosis was confirmed through radiological work-up and bronchoscopy, and surgical intervention was performed without complications. This highlights the importance of considering congenital cysts in neonates presenting with respiratory distress and involving subspecialities to ensure timely diagnosis and avoid complications.
