Summary: Chemotherapy is an important treatment method for liver cancer. The compound celastrol (CSL) has shown promising potential as an anti-liver cancer drug due to its ability to inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion of liver cancer cells. However, its application is limited by various factors such as toxicity, poor solubility, and lack of tumor targeting. This study developed a targeted drug delivery system using hyaluronic acid and beta-cyclodextrin nanocarriers, which showed controllable release and exhibited efficacy in reducing cytotoxicity for normal cells and inhibiting survival of tumor cells.

Summary: This study analyzed the relationship between two natural products, the flavonoids apigenin and kaempferol, and progesterone treatment. The results showed that apigenin and kaempferol have progestogenic activity in vivo but act differently from progesterone. They have different effects on gene transcription, with kaempferol showing some unique effects.

Summary: The study revealed that lnc-TCF7 regulates multiple oncogenic pathways in epithelial ovarian cancer by upregulating ITGB8, promoting cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and stemness. Additionally, high expression of lnc-TCF7 is associated with higher pathological grade, larger tumor size, advanced FIGO stage, and poorer overall survival in EOC patients.

Summary: In this study, it was found that epimedium can inhibit the activity of CYP3A4 enzyme, thereby enhancing the anti-inflammatory effect of corticosteroids. The active compound of epimedium, kaempferol, was identified and shown to eliminate the production of interleukin and tumor necrosis factor in combination with corticosteroids. These findings reveal the mechanism of interaction between epimedium and corticosteroids.

Summary: This study found that newly developed low calcemic vitamin D analogs (an1,25Ds) can be used as anticancer agents in ovarian cancer cells, with PRI-5202 showing the best efficacy. The potency of these analogs and their ability to increase CYP24A1 expression in HGSOC cell lines were dependent on the cell line and chemical structure, suggesting that further optimization of the analogs' structure may lead to new treatment options for ovarian cancer.

Summary: In this study, five natural compounds were investigated as analogs of promising G-quadruplex-targeting ligands to identify highly effective and selective anticancer candidates. Among them, Dicentrine was found to be the most effective ligand for telomeric and oncogenic G-quadruplexes, showing good selectivity. In-depth studies demonstrated that Dicentrine thermally stabilizes G-quadruplexes without affecting the control duplex, with higher affinity for G-quadruplex structures. Molecular dynamics simulations indicated that Dicentrine preferentially binds the G-quadruplex groove or the outer G-tetrad. Biological assays confirmed that Dicentrine promotes potent and selective anticancer activity by inducing cell cycle arrest through apoptosis, targeting G-quadruplex structures at telomeres.

Summary: ChemoDynamic Therapy (CDT) utilizes Fenton/Fenton-like reactions to generate oxidative stress for cancer treatment. However, the limited catalyst ions and ROS scavenging activity of GPX4 restrict its application. Therefore, an efficient strategy to regulate the Fenton reaction (using dual metal cations) and inhibit GPX4 activity is highly desired.

Summary: In cisplatin-resistant ovarian carcinoma cell lines, the OPNc isoform was found to be the most upregulated transcript, and its silencing increased sensitivity to cisplatin and reduced P-gp expression levels. Silencing of OPNc also decreased cell proliferation and colony formation abilities, while reversing the expression levels of EMT markers and related cytokines. Additionally, stable overexpression of OPNc increased cisplatin sensitivity in ovarian cancer cells.

Summary: Encapsulation of Kaempferol into albumin nanoparticles and electrospinning with dexamethasone in polycaprolactone solution resulted in nanofibrous mats with sustained release of both drugs for cartilage tissue engineering. The fabricated mats showed increased deposition of glycosaminoglycans and non-cytotoxicity with pro chondrogenic properties when evaluated with human chondrocytes in vitro, indicating potential benefits for cartilage regeneration.

Summary: The study found that pre-incubation of ovarian cancer cells with 17 beta-estradiol may effectively enhance the chemo- and electrochemotherapy with cisplatin and calcium chloride, but it reduces the effectiveness of electroporation, indicating that the mechanism of increasing the effectiveness of ECT by E-2 is not related to the change of cell membrane permeability.

Summary: High NOX4 levels are detected in human ovarian cancer samples, induced by HIF-1 alpha and IGF-1, playing a crucial role in chemotherapy and radiotherapy resistance. Knockdown of NOX4 increases sensitivity to targeted therapy and radiotherapy by reducing expression of HER3 and NF-kappa B p65, revealing a new pathway for overcoming therapeutic resistance in ovarian cancer.

Summary: Recent research has revealed the diverse cellular mechanisms underlying certain types of cancer, leading to more effective treatment options. Ovarian cancer (OC) is particularly challenging to treat, with limited options available, especially for late-stage patients. Dysregulation of miRNAs and ROS in OC plays significant roles in tumorigenesis and affects the therapeutic outcomes through their involvement in angiogenesis regulation.
