Summary: This study evaluated the potential reproductive toxicity of sulfoxaflor (SFX) insecticide in male Sprague Dawley rats. The results showed that SFX exposure led to abnormal sperm morphology, sperm DNA damage, and significant pathological changes in the testes, epididymis, and seminal vesicles of the rats.

Summary: The study found that supplementation with 250 mg/kg BW/d of EBN showed a significant increase in sperm concentration, sperm motility, FSH, and LH levels compared to the group receiving 10 mg/kg BW/d. There was a dose-dependent increase in testosterone level, but it was not significant between groups. In conclusion, EBN was found to have significant effects on male reproductive parameters.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of vancomycin-linoleic acid nanoparticles on testicular tissue in an experimental animal model, revealing reduced sperm count, decreased testosterone levels, increased luteinizing hormone levels, and decreased follicular stimulating hormone levels in certain groups. Histologic sections also showed hypoplasia, tubular atrophy, and shrinkage, indicating disruptions in testicular morphometry and hormonal milieu due to the nanoparticles.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the role of estrogen receptor alpha (ER alpha) in BDE-209-mediated perturbation of BTB integrity. The data demonstrated that BDE-209 impaired BTB integrity by reducing crucial tight junction-related proteins and apical ectoplasmic specialization markers. Furthermore, BDE-209 damaged BTB ultrastructure including tight junctions and ectoplasmic specialization structures. Unexpectedly, PPT rescued BDE-209-mediated disruption of BTB integrity by activating ER alpha in Sertoli cells.

Summary: Research findings show that adult tomcats have higher epididymal sperm concentration and better sperm morphology compared to post-pubertal tomcats, but there is no significant difference in testicular and epididymal mass, spermatogenesis, and other sperm traits between the two age groups.

Summary: In this study, endothelial dysfunction and altered expression of endothelial genes in type 2 diabetes were examined using ZDSD rats as a model. The results showed that ZDSD rats exhibited endothelial dysfunction and increased sensitivity to PAR2 agonist-induced vasodilation. Additionally, altered expression of multiple endothelial genes, including PAR2, suggested the involvement of inflammatory and angiogenesis signaling pathways in the endothelium of ZDSD rats.

Summary: Mice treated with BPA exhibited decreased sperm quality, lower serum testosterone levels, and a sub-fertile phenotype, mainly due to impaired germ cell proliferation. BPA had a concentration-dependent inhibition effect on germ cell proliferation, leading to reduced male fertility.

Summary: Through single-cell RNA sequencing of ZIKV-infected mouse testes, it is found that spermatogenic cells, especially spermatogonia, are vulnerable to ZIKV infection. The complement system genes are significantly upregulated in infiltrated S100A4 + monocytes/macrophages. Complement activation and testicular damage are verified in ZIKV-infected macaques and the complement inhibitor C1INH and S100A4 inhibitors sulindac and niclosamide are tested. C1INH alleviates testicular pathology but worsens ZIKV infection, while niclosamide effectively reduces infiltration, inhibits complement activation, alleviates testicular damage, and improves fertility. This discovery highlights the importance of male reproductive health protection during future ZIKV epidemics.

Summary: Taurine has a wide range of biological effects and has been proved to have a potential protective effect on reproductive function of male animals. It can promote the endocrine function of the HPT axis, delay testicular aging, maintain testicular homeostasis, and protect against toxic damage to the male reproductive system. This article reviews the protective effect of taurine on male reproductive function and its detailed mechanism.

Summary: Due to environmental contamination, exposure to pollutants in polluted environments can cause reproductive damages in male vertebrate animals, including reduced fertility and population decline. The effects include a reduction in androgen levels, impaired spermatogenesis, morphological damage to reproductive organs, and decreased sperm quality. Wild animals are mainly exposed to endocrine-disrupting compounds, toxic metals, and radiation. Further studies are needed to better understand the effects of environmental contaminants on male reproduction in naturally exposed animals.

Summary: The study found that THOR deficiency leads to decreased male fertility, increased apoptosis in reproductive cells, and imbalance in female-to-male offspring ratio. It affects the MEK-ERK signaling pathway through regulation of IGF2BP1. These results provide new insights for exploring the roles of lncRNAs in reproductive development and potential therapeutic targets for infertility.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the toxic effects of coexposure to nanoplastics (NPs) and di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) on the male reproductive system. The results showed that DEHP at an environmentally relevant dose can induce male reproductive toxicity, and NPs may aggravate these toxic effects.
