Summary: This study compared the surgical outcomes and short-term efficacy of a modified two-port laparoscopic procedure and the traditional five-port McKeown procedure in patients with esophageal cancer. The results showed no significant differences in intraoperative parameters, postoperative pain scores, complication rates, duration of hospital stay, and total hospitalization costs between the two groups. The findings suggest that the two-port laparoscopic procedure is a safe and effective approach for gastric dissociation in patients with esophageal cancer.

Summary: Diaphragmatic endometriosis (DE) is a rare and often misdiagnosed condition, primarily detected through surgery. This study described the treatment of 215 patients with DE, and by developing standardized surgical approaches and specific techniques, the rate of postoperative complications was effectively reduced.

Summary: The study compared the range of motion and ergonomic characteristics of single-port robotic instruments in the setting of the floating versus flat docking technique using the GelPOINT(R) system. Results showed that the floating technique significantly increased the range of motion of the instrument, especially when the target was closer than 10 cm from the skin, effectively increasing the working surgical space.

Summary: We developed a single incision surgical gastroscopy (SISG) procedure for the resection of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) located in the proximal stomach or esophagogastric junction. The procedure was successfully performed in six patients with excellent short-term oncological and surgical outcomes. This technique provides a feasible alternative for challenging resections of gastric GISTs.

Summary: Single-port robotic radical prostatectomy shows advantages in shorter hospital stay and lower analgesic requirement compared to multiple-port robotic radical prostatectomy. However, there is no significant difference in operative time, blood loss, complication rate, or positive surgical margins. More randomized trials with long-term follow-up are needed for valid comparisons.

Summary: The growth of minimally invasive pancreatic surgery has led to an increase in evidence-based data for analyzing patient outcomes. Studies have shown both similarities and differences between MIPS and open surgeries, but there are still many questions that need to be answered. This review highlights the available literature and emphasizes key factors for evaluating laparoscopic and robotic pancreatic surgery.

Summary: Trans-anal excision is the surgical treatment of choice for various types of rectal tumors, with the single-port robotic (SPR) platform being a novel and safe technique for performing these procedures. The study successfully performed the SPR-TAMIS technique on five patients with no reported complications, showing promising results for non-piecemeal resections of low-risk rectal tumors. Further research is needed to evaluate long-term safety and outcomes.

Summary: Chronic pancreatitis is a debilitating inflammatory disease of the pancreas that causes severe pain and poor quality of life. While traditional management includes medication and lifestyle modifications, recent studies suggest that early surgical intervention may be more beneficial in mitigating disease progression. However, the technical difficulties associated with severe inflammation have hindered the widespread adoption of minimally invasive surgery for chronic pancreatitis. Nonetheless, recent advancements in laparoscopic instrumentation have resulted in increased use of minimally invasive procedures for this condition.

Summary: The study compares the structural and functional properties of mitochondrial membranes in prostate and colon cancer cells to normal mitochondria, revealing significant cancer-induced membrane changes that may be targeted by anti-cancer molecules. The findings highlight the relationship between cancer and mitochondrial membrane transformations, suggesting a potential therapeutic significance of mitochondrial membrane targeting in cancer treatment.
