A dual band-notched ultrawideband antenna is proposed in this article. The antenna consists of a U-shaped radiation patch and a ground plane which is symmetric with the edge of the radiation patch. By attaching two T-shaped slots on the radiation patch and two rectangular complementary split-ring resonators on both sides of the microstrip line, two notched bands, 3.3-3.7 GHz for WiMAX and 5.15-5.825 GHz for WLAN are achieved, respectively. The dimension of the proposed antenna is 24.6 mm x 38.1 mm x 1.5 mm. The measured result shows that the antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth and omnidirectional radiation patterns. Moreover, time-domain characteristics and conceptual circuit model based on the input impedance of the proposed antenna are investigated to verify the dual band-notched characteristics.
