Summary: Adaptive interaction system in flight control aims to enhance pilot's situation awareness and achieve human-in-the-loop control. However, existing systems may lag in reacting to high workload situations, leading to loss of important information. In addition, the underlying tacit knowledge that reveals the interrelationship of information is often neglected. To address these issues, we propose an adaptive interaction system with three subsystems: workload level prediction, tacit expert knowledge mining, and tips information inference. The effectiveness of the system is verified through a comparative experiment using a remotely piloted aircraft control interface.

Summary: This study proposes a two-phase analytical methodology to reveal the relationship between the loss of situation awareness (SA) and workload for air traffic control officers (ATCOs) using EEG and eye-tracking data. The results show that neurophysiological behaviors of SA loss differ between normal and high workload situations.

Summary: This paper introduces a highly scalable, innovative Cyber-physical-social Awareness (CPSA) platform that provides situation awareness by using and intersecting information from both IoT sensors and social media. The CPSA platform combines and fuses information from sensors and social media spaces, and uses user-provided situation models to refine and intersect cyber, physical, and social information. The evaluation shows that the CPSA platform can reliably process and intersect with large volumes of IoT sensor and social media data to provide enhanced situation awareness.

Summary: The analysis of the 2002 Prestige tanker accident highlights the importance of informing and educating coastal populations about marine pollution risks. With the development of electronic platforms, including GIS, AIS, and social media, there are now means for public monitoring and counteracting misinformation. The authors have developed the E-S.A.V.E. platform as part of the AEGIS+ project to meet user needs, utilize GIS and AI technology, and provide educational resources and information.

Summary: This paper presents the repeatable effects of synchronizing visual and auditory alarms with heartbeats on cognitive resource availability. A perception-driven situation awareness model is proposed and studied through two experimental protocols with different groups of participants. The results show that the synchronous condition leads to more errors and fewer visual scans, indicating a degradation of perceptual abilities due to workload.

Summary: In this paper, a comprehensive situation awareness measurement method is designed to evaluate the feasibility of one operator monitoring and controlling multiple NSSS modules simultaneously. By combining SART, NASA-TLX, and eye movement tracking methods, the operators' SA is measured and a series of accident handling experiments are conducted on a full-scale simulator. The experiment results show that one operator driving two NSSS modules simultaneously is feasible.

Summary: This study examines the impact of different types of augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) takeover assistance information on drivers' situation awareness and takeover decisions in highly automated driving systems. The findings indicate that the AS (assistance in analyzing situations) type is the most effective in enhancing drivers' situation awareness and improving takeover performance.

Summary: This paper discusses the importance of high-quality operation and maintenance in smart distribution networks (SDN) for meeting the requirements of high-tech enterprises for high power quality. Situation awareness (SA) is identified as a significant element in enhancing high-quality operation and maintenance, particularly after the integration of intermittent renewable energy into SDN. The paper decomposes SA into detection, comprehension, and projection stages and presents a five-layer visualization framework. It provides insights into the technical achievements, barriers, and future research directions of SDN SA for researchers and utility engineers.

Summary: The study aims to evaluate the effects of three previously developed user interface concepts on operators' situation awareness, task performance, and workload to gain better insights into the benefits and limitations of the user interface design concepts. Results showed that an integrated user interface allowed for more effective information processing and better task performance, while a context-dependent adaptable user interface triggered proactive behavior and improved task performance for tasks requiring insight into future activities.

Summary: Research indicates that the use of ADAS can increase driver engagement in non-driving tasks and improve performance in secondary tasks. However, drivers using ADAS may be prone to distraction, highlighting the continued importance of the role of human drivers despite vehicle automation. Understanding the functionalities and limitations of ADAS is essential for appropriate and effective use of these systems.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of air route alternation and display design on operators' situation awareness, task performance, and mental workload during simulated flight tasks. Unexpected air route alternation increases mental workload, deteriorates situation awareness, and task performance. It is crucial to reduce attention resource demands of operators when dealing with unexpected events, and reasonable information layout is more important than information salience in improving situation awareness and task performance in abnormal situations.
