Summary: Induced seismicity has raised concerns for both the industry and nearby residents. This study investigates the occurrence of aftershocks and spatiotemporal clustering using seismic catalogs from the Kiskatinaw Seismic Monitoring and Mitigation Area in Canada. The results reveal significant aftershock triggering and spatial variations across the area, suggesting the presence of pre-existing stresses and fault systems.

Summary: This study aims to develop seismic microzonation and soil amplification factor maps for the offshore areas with soft soil in the Malay Basin. Using one-dimensional nonlinear analysis of layered soil (NERA), the ground response analysis for different return periods was conducted. The study proposes horizontal response spectra and site coefficient values for the Malay Basin. The findings indicate soil amplification in soil types D and E in the basin.

Summary: The study analyzed the induced seismicity related to hydraulic fracturing activities in the Duvernay Formation near Fox Creek, Alberta, Canada. It found that the seismic hazard has consistently decreased since 2015, with distinct features in Eastern and Western regions, while no seismic activity was observed in hydraulic fracturing areas. The decreasing seismic hazard may be associated with changes in fracturing operations and mitigation strategies, along with additional regulatory implementations to prevent significant seismic events.

Summary: This study generates short-term seismic hazard maps for the province of Alberta, Canada, from 2011 through 2020, using the Monte Carlo simulation approach. The maps reveal spatio-temporal variations in earthquake recurrence parameters and provide a valuable tool for quantifying the short-term evolution in seismic hazard.

Summary: The North East India is highly seismically active and classified as zone V in the Seismic zonation map of India. However, there are significant variations in seismic activity and hazard values across the region. This study aims to deaggregate seismic hazard in order to identify controlling seismic sources in the North East.

Summary: This paper presents selected methods for evaluating the efficiency of destress blasting, and proposes novel quantitative methods based on in situ seismic measurements. The proposed solutions combine two different approaches, one based on seismic amplitude characteristics for near-field analysis, and another extended to include duration and frequency of the seismic wave for far-field evaluation. The methods are validated in deep underground mines and can be used for rockburst hazard control in underground mines, as well as assessing seismic vibrations in open pits and quarries.

Summary: This study conducted a probabilistic seismic hazard analysis to develop a new seismic hazard map for India, revealing higher seismic hazard in the Hindukush-Pamir and Northeast regions, while central India and the southern peninsular regions are less prone to seismic threat.

Summary: The study investigates the spatial correlation characteristics of VS30 values in Tehran using advanced spatial statistics methods. Furthermore, a new estimated VS30 map of Tehran city is provided by utilizing a more comprehensive database of VS30 values and employing eight spatial interpolation methods. The findings of this research can contribute to spatially correlated seismic hazard assessment studies in the Tehran region and help fill the data gap required for seismic risk assessment studies in this region. Additionally, the study's results can be used for further detailed description of geological formations by identifying local variations in site classes.

Summary: This study validated a method for calculating GPS strain rates and used it to determine the strain rates in the region around the Ordos Block. It found that the high strain rate values are mainly concentrated on the peripheral zones of the Block and along major active faults. The study also identified areas of high earthquake risk based on strain rates, seismicity, and tectonic structures.

Summary: This discussion reviews and compares the evaluations of seismic hazard in Peshawar conducted by various national and international researchers and agencies, aiming to assess the suitability of the current seismic design standards for the city. Recent studies on seismic hazard in Peshawar, reported by other researchers, are also presented. The findings of these studies have shown conflicting results, which may have significant socioeconomic implications for the placement of Peshawar in the lowest seismic hazard Zone 1. Therefore, a critical review of these studies is necessary to recommend appropriate design ground motion for Peshawar.

Summary: This study presents a seismotectonic analysis of the Miocene-aged Hegau-Bodensee Graben, revealing the seismic activity and kinematics of the bounding faults. The results suggest that the bounding faults are likely to be reactivated in the present-day stress field. Comparison with historical seismicity indicates the potential for generating moderate earthquakes in this fault zone.

Summary: This study developed the seismic hazard map of Uttarakhand using the deterministic seismic hazard analysis approach. It found that Uttarakhand is one of the most seismically active states in India. The study also observed that the current Indian standard underestimates the response spectrum values for most regions of the state.
