Summary: This study describes brain imaging abnormalities in children with en coup de sabre (EDCS) with/without Parry-Romberg syndrome (PRS) and identifies clinical predictors of brain imaging abnormalities. The presence of seizures was significantly associated with ipsilateral enhanced white matter signaling. Improved neuroimaging techniques may enhance detection of brain involvement in these children.

Summary: Parry-Romberg syndrome (PRS) and linear sclerosis en coup de sabre (LScs) are rare autoimmune conditions of focal atrophy and sclerosis of the head and face, associated with the development of focal epilepsy. Most cases showed a correlation between external manifestations and epileptic foci, with treatment options including anti-seizure medications, immunomodulatory therapy, and epilepsy surgery. More research is needed to improve case identification and management of these syndromes.

Summary: The production of intrathecal Borrelia-specific antibodies in patients with Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) was found to be unrelated to the time from symptom onset to lumbar puncture (LP). The delay from symptom onset to LP was similar for patients with positive Bb-AI IgM and Bb-AI IgG.

Summary: This study provides the largest dataset on CVBD seropositivity in Europe to date. The decrease in test positivity over the study period may be attributed to changes in testing behavior and increased screening of healthy animals. The mapping of CVBD across Europe provides expected test positivity values that can help guide veterinarians' decisions on screening and prevention.

Summary: The study found no significant relationship between Borrelia infection and morphea in patients. Detection of IgM and IgG classes of anti-Borrelia antibodies is not recommended for routine diagnostics of patients with morphea at this time. Further research is needed to explore other infectious agents as potential risk factors for morphea.

Summary: Traditionally, en coup de sabre form of morphea involving the scalp often results in sclerosis, dyspigmentation, and scarring alopecia that is thought to be permanent and unresponsive to treatment. However, this report presents two cases where extensive scarring alopecia improved with medical treatment.

Summary: We present a case study of a 12-year-old male child with bilateral en coup de sabre morphea, characterized by two linear brownish depressed lesions on the forehead and hair loss on the scalp. Thorough clinical, ultrasonography, and brain imaging examinations were performed to confirm the diagnosis, and the patient underwent treatment with oral steroids and weekly methotrexate.

Summary: This study assessed the prevalence and distribution of tick-borne pathogens in clinically suspect dogs from three macro areas in Italy over a 15-year period. The results showed high seroprevalence and wide distribution of the four key pathogens, advocating for integrative control strategies for their prevention.

Summary: This article discusses the potential role of microorganisms in the development of Alzheimer's disease, focusing on whether Lyme disease is a cause of Alzheimer's disease or Lewy body dementia. The paper concludes that there is no convincing evidence supporting a causal relationship between Lyme disease and either Alzheimer's disease or Lewy body dementia.

Summary: Parry Romberg disease and En Coupe de Sabre Scleroderma are associated disorders affecting the face, leading to severe aesthetic and functional impairment. Systemic immunosuppression is the gold standard of first-line treatment in pediatric rheumatology but is often delayed in pediatric dermatology clinics.

Summary: This study examined the exposure of horses in Greece to various pathogens and evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of saliva compared to serum. The findings suggest that saliva sampling coupled with IFAT could be successfully used for detecting antibodies against important zoonotic pathogens in horses.

Summary: The study conducted a cross-sectional investigation of 551 horses in southern, central, and eastern Ontario, Canada to evaluate the seroprevalence of B. burgdorferi and associated risk factors. The results showed a seroprevalence of 17% with a spatial cluster of cases detected in Eastern Ontario. Oak trees by pastures and regular tick checks were found to be significant risk factors for seropositivity.

Summary: En coup de sabre morphea is a rare condition characterized by linear morphea lesions on the scalp and/or forehead that resemble a sword strike. Treatment options for this condition are based on case reports and lack clear guidelines on drug choice, treatment duration, and dosages.
