Summary: Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) is a growing public health issue in Baluchistan Province, Pakistan, with a higher prevalence rate in males aged 0-9 years. Most lesions were found on the hands, and atypical presentations such as lupus erythematosus were observed. More epidemiological studies and health education campaigns are recommended to raise awareness and establish control strategies.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of topical liposomal clarithromycin in combination with meglumine antimoniate on cutaneous leishmaniasis lesions. The results showed that the combination treatment significantly reduced the size of the lesions and had no significant adverse effects.

Summary: The diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis can be challenging due to its diverse clinical presentations, misleading appearance, and long incubation period. Treatment choice depends on the species of Leishmania, with liposomal amphotericin B showing positive responses in some cases.

Summary: This study describes the clinical-epidemiological profile, therapeutic characteristics, and outcomes of cutaneous leishmaniasis patients in Jammu and Kashmir, suggesting the region as a new focus of endemicity for the disease. Results show that 84.23% of cases achieved complete cure, with single lesions more likely to respond to treatment. The escalating trend of the disease in the region calls for appropriate measures to contain its spread.

Summary: This study is the first large-scale investigation into the seasonality, spatial distribution, and demographics of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) in Asir province. It reveals that Saudi male citizens and children under 13 years old are at higher risk of CL infection, with most cases reported in the face during winter and autumn seasons. Geographically, the governates of Abha, Sarat-Abidah, and Khamis-Mushait have the highest prevalence of CL, with a noted geographical expansion of CL over the past ten years.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the epidemiologic characteristics and transmissibility of HIV in Nanning City, China. Results showed high-risk areas were mainly in suburbs, and high-risk groups were older individuals with lower income and education levels. The study also found a decline in HIV transmissibility over the past 20 years, suggesting significant improvement in prevention and treatment measures in Nanning City.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the characteristics of patients with cutaneous or mucocutaneous leishmaniasis who were receiving biological therapy. The results showed that leishmaniasis presented more frequently as a plaque with ulceration and required more intralesional injections in patients treated with TNF-a inhibitors. There was no systemic involvement in these patients. The study concluded that biologic therapy does not interfere with the treatment of CL or MCL.

Summary: The immunopathology associated with Leishmaniasis is a consequence of inflammation that may lead to different clinical manifestations depending on host-immune response type, with various pathways influencing disease severity. Comparing immune profiles in patients with cutaneous leishmaniasis caused by L. guyanensis and healthy individuals helps identify specific immune factors related to disease development progression. Multiple biomarker pairs showed high correlation, with cytokines IL-17 and IL-1 beta exhibiting the most positive pair correlation among patients. Prediction of disease progression in Lg-infected individuals may be associated with specific cytokines.

Summary: This study reviewed the epidemiology, reservoirs, vectors, and climatic factors of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) in Iran. The prevalence of CL was found to be high in western Iran and has spread to the central and southern regions in recent years. Certain regions in southern Iran are notable hotspots for CL due to the presence of potential rodent hosts. Molecular identification using genomic diagnosis revealed heterogeneity in leishmaniasis across different parts of the country.

Summary: This study investigated circulating innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) in different types of cutaneous leishmaniasis patients, revealing variations in the proportions of ILC1, ILC2, and ILC3 among them. ILC1 and ILC3 were associated with disease control and inflammation regulation, while ILC2 was linked to the tolerogenic state of the patients.
