Summary: This study investigates the variations of loading, deformation, and loss in the shaft coal pocket wall in coal mines under dynamic-static load, and aims to determine the mechanical state, loss characteristics, and stability. Through innovative three-dimensional physical similarity tests and coal loading/unloading experiments, the study analyzes the deformation, pressure, surrounding rock, and flow pattern of the silo wall. The results indicate that different dispersion particles significantly impact the strain of the shaft wall, with coal particles having a higher overpressure coefficient compared to dry sand particles. The particle size and internal friction angle also greatly affect the wall deformation. The study also finds that coal particles are more prone to arching phenomenon during unloading, but the presence of warehouse wall support can reduce the occurrence of bulk arching. Additionally, the weak rock stratum in the surrounding rock plays a major role in controlling the deformation and failure development of the shaft wall. The three-dimensional physical simulation experiment effectively reproduces field engineering practice and the results are validated through numerical simulation analysis.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of magnetic minerals as a proxy for hydrocarbon migration pathways by testing core samples from the Tay Fan in the Central North Sea. Results show a variety of magnetic minerals present in similar concentrations, with an increasing presence of authigenic iron sulphides along the identified lateral hydrocarbon migration pathway. This suggests mineral magnetic techniques could be used to quickly identify biodegradation severity or oil maturity in core samples, which can then be used to calibrate petroleum systems models.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics and formation mechanism of symbiotic coal and oil shale by conducting various tests on samples. High-quality oil shale primarily comes from bacteria and algae, while low-quality oil shale mainly originates from algae and terrestrial vitrinite. These findings contribute to the improvement of the symbiotic metallogenic theory of coal and oil shale, as well as the exploration and development of coal and oil shale in the Huangxian Basin and similar basins.

Summary: This study investigates the chemical, geological characteristics, and mineral composition of coal and its generated fly ash, exploring environmental issues and the potential recovery of rare earth elements. The results show abundant minerals such as quartz, kaolinite, and haematite in both coal and fly ash, with exceptionally high levels of certain elements.

Summary: The heterogeneity of the pore structure of coal reservoirs affects the desorption and diffusion characteristics of coalbed methane. NMR and multifractal analysis were used to quantitatively evaluate the pore structure heterogeneity and determine the influencing factors in the central and eastern Qinshui Basin, where coalbed methane resources are abundant. The research results provide theoretical guidance for the subsequent exploration and development of coalbed methane in the region.

Summary: The properties of petroleum coke have significant effects on the quality of slurries. Petroleum coke with oxygen-containing functional groups and small molecular branched chains can be blended with Hami coal to prepare high quality slurries. The aggregation state of the particles is the main reason behind the differences in the characteristics of slurries prepared with different types of petroleum coke.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between oil collector drop and coal particle in low-rank coal flotation. Different collectors were used and their interaction mechanisms were revealed through measurements such as wetting heats and FTIR analysis. The results showed that mixed collector obtained higher flotation efficiency.

Summary: The trend of changing N-2 adsorption specific surface area during pyrolysis is significantly affected by coal rank and the arrangement of planar polycyclic aromatic structures in char. Two exponents introduced in the model can predict the specific surface area of various coals and a correlation between the fraction ratio of crosslinked metaplast to volatile yield and the order degree of aromatic structure arrangement is proposed. The model can also predict transition characteristics of subbituminous coal based on temperature and heating rates.

Summary: The pore structure of lignite reservoirs is mainly influenced by the maceral composition of coal and depositional conditions. Low-temperature nitrogen adsorption and low-temperature carbon dioxide adsorption were used to characterize nanopore structure, revealing three pore types. The abundance of huminite in coal samples contributes to high micropore content and low mesopore content.

Summary: This study investigates the variation of fracture structure and coal permeability with effective stress using three-dimensional (3-D) micro-CT and digital core techniques. The results demonstrate that different types of fractures exhibit different sensitivities to effective stress, and the permeability of coal decreases exponentially with increasing effective stress and shows an anisotropic behavior in space.

Summary: The Eastern Carpathian fold and thrust belt in Romania is an early oil and gas producing area, with most of the fields concentrated in the Moinesti area. The preservation of oil and gas fields in this region is primarily controlled by recent uplift and erosional unroofing of the Carpathians, which resulted in intense deformation due to late inversion. This deformation reflects the rheology of the basement units underlying the Carpathians.
