Summary: This paper examines the effects of interventional stent treatment on the cerebral hemodynamics of elastic aneurysms. It finds that higher blood flow rates and greater wall compliance provide a more stable flow environment, while the stent attenuates the impact of wall compliance and acts as a flow diverter to reduce the risk of aneurysm rupture.

Summary: The experimental results show that despite the variation of length-diameter ratio of the leakage holes, the expansion angles and jet velocities behave similarly and maintain stable values. An empirical two-phase mass outflow rate model has been developed based on the experimental data, which can be supported in mass flow rate evaluation, especially for specific release cases.

Summary: On-demand drug delivery systems combined with wireless implants can control drug release, reducing dosage and side effects. Researchers designed a release system based on a modified electroresponsive polypyrrole nanoparticulate film for negatively charged compounds. They also developed an ultrasonically powered mm-sized implant to electronically control the on-demand drug delivery system in vivo. The feasibility of wireless, controllable drug release was demonstrated through in vitro and in vivo characterization using fluorescein as a model drug.

Summary: Biphasic drug delivery systems are used to quickly release a specific amount of drug for immediate relief, followed by sustained release to avoid repeated dosing. This study presents a novel architecture for biphasic release media without the need for a rapidly disintegrating layer and with adjustable sustained release rate capabilities.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of selected excipients on the release performance of carvedilol from HPMC-based matrix tablets. Compression mixtures were directly compressed using different grades of excipients. LOESS modelling was used to compare the release profiles by estimating burst release, lag time, and times at which a certain % of carvedilol was released. The similarity between the release profiles was evaluated using the bootstrapped similarity factor (f(2)). The best control of carvedilol release was achieved with POLYOX® WSR N-80 and Polyglykol® 8000 P in water-soluble excipients, and AVICEL® PH-102 and AVICEL® PH-200 in water-insoluble excipients.

Summary: This study synthesized ZIF-8 and conducted simulation studies to gain a comprehensive understanding of the drug's interactions with ZIF-8. Experimental and computational results revealed the adsorption mechanism and energy interactions between the drug and the MOF framework, providing guidance for the design of new metal-organic ligand drug carriers.

Summary: This study investigated two-phase flow distribution in a parallel flow condenser using R-134a flow distribution tests. The results showed relatively uniform flow distribution within the channels, with variations at the top and bottom channels. Thermal degradation due to flow mal-distribution was found to be insignificant.

Summary: High phosphorus peaks in lowland rivers during the summer months are mainly caused by the reductive dissolution of ferric iron minerals in sediments. Lowering water flow velocity enhances the release of phosphorus from sediment into the water, while amending sediment with iron-rich glauconite sand can reduce dissolved phosphorus concentrations.

Summary: This study developed an adaptive perfusion method for size-based separation of particles and simultaneous analysis of drug release rate and extent, achieving faster and higher release profiles compared to conventional dialysis methods. The method has potential for further extension to explore manufacturing process impacts on drug distribution and release characteristics of complex drug products.

Summary: Experimental studies were conducted on the stability of collapsible tubes conveying fluid in the context of cardiovascular mechanics. This paper investigated the turbulent and laminar regimes with equal flow rates and pressure drops to identify the stability boundary and self-exciting oscillation modes of Penrose tubes in the Starling resistor. Four oscillation modes were observed visually and through pressure measurements for laminar and turbulent regimes. Comparisons were made between amplitudes, frequencies, and boundaries of different oscillation modes for equivalent laminar and turbulent flow regimes.

Summary: This study investigates the gliding phenomenon of acoustic and seismic tremors observed in analogue degassing experiments. It finds that the gliding episodes are mostly related to the volume variation of shallow interconnected gas pockets. The findings have implications for the churn dynamics in volcanic environments and call for further research.

Summary: Oil-water stratification is studied during drainage from a tank, with the viscosity ratio of oil to water affecting the flow behavior. Different flow patterns and the movement of air and oil in the drain pipe are observed. Optical probes are successfully used to detect various air-oil-water regimes in the drainpipe.
