Summary: Dysregulation of glycosylation pathways is implicated in cancer development and metastasis. Inhibitors targeting Golgi alpha-mannosidase show potential in disrupting glycan biosynthesis, but lack of specificity limits their therapeutic use. Efforts to develop more specific inhibitors are ongoing to advance the field of cancer chemotherapy.

Summary: The multistep kinetics of Fe2O3 reduction by H2 was studied using data deconvolution. The reduction process was conducted isothermally in a TGA apparatus at temperatures ranging from 750 to 950 degrees C. The stepwise reduction of Fe2O3 was successfully decoupled without controlling the reduction gas atmosphere. The deconvoluted data accurately described the overlapping and reaction rates of each reduction step.

Summary: The application of the Ozawa-Avrami model to crosslinking polymerizations has some problems, including limited applicability to processes that follow the Avrami model, systematic dependence of temperature on the Avrami index in autocatalytic or decelerating kinetics, inability to accurately calculate activation energy and preexponential factor using the Arrhenius equation, and the possibility of questionable interpretations due to breakpoints in Arrhenius plots.

Summary: cis-Cyclobutane-1,2-dicarbocylic acid (CBDA-2) was synthesized and utilized as a biobased hardener for the cross-linking of epoxidized linseed oil, leading to the formation of a fully biobased thermoset. The polymerization mechanism was investigated through various techniques, including real-time attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), stochastically modulated temperature DSC, and rheometry. The study emphasizes the significance of hydrogen bonding involving CBDA-2 and the catalytic effect of hydroxyl groups generated during the reaction. Reactive function evolution with temperature and time, changes in activation energy and pre-exponential factor, as well as heat capacity variations and chemorheology were correlated to describe the macroscopic changes. A macrokinetic model was proposed to comprehensively explain the complete polymerization mechanism with parameters that possess physical meaning.

Summary: This note highlights the issue of using single heating rate kinetics for thermal decomposition of organometallic compounds. It emphasizes that this approach leads to erroneous results and goes against the recommendations of the International Confederation for Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry. The paper advocates for the adoption of multiple heating rate approach and provides examples of its failure.

Summary: Crosslinking affects the mechanical behavior and tissue metabolism of collagen-based tissues. Aging and diabetes alter the crosslinking type and density, thus changing tissue properties. High-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking and advanced-glycation end-products result in uniform deformation under daily activity, while low-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking does not. High-connectivity model displays more sliding, while AGEs induce instability in structures near the binding sites.

Summary: The potential of multi-layer nanoemulsions for improving the cellular uptake, antioxidant activity, and in vitro bioaccessibility of alpha-tocopherol was examined. The results showed that the multi-layer nanoemulsions significantly enhanced the cellular uptake and antioxidant activity of alpha-tocopherol compared to free coumarin 6. Furthermore, the use of chitosan and dextran sulfate as wall materials in the multi-layer nanoemulsions led to even higher cellular uptake, in vitro bioaccessibility, and antioxidant activity of alpha-tocopherol.
