Summary: The ultrasonic activation of sealer resulted in a higher percentage of remaining filling material on the root canal walls compared to no ultrasonic activation. There was a statistically significant difference in the apical third of the root canals between the two groups. However, there was no difference in retreatment time between the groups.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the root filling remnants after SRCTs of oval-shaped canals using X-rays and CBCT. The results showed that the remnants were mainly located in the middle thirds of the canals, and the GF group had a significantly higher volume of remnants compared to the SC group. ESEM-EDX analysis revealed that the remnants were composed of sealer and gutta-percha.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the volume of filled C-shaped root canals using different CBCT and micro-CT scanners with nano-CT as a reference. The results showed that CBCT and micro-CT scans displayed significantly larger volume of root canal filling compared to nano-CT. The presence of endodontic filling material can lead to blooming artifacts in CBCT and micro-CT images.

Summary: This study compared the retreatment of oval canals filled with gutta-percha and different sealers using WaveOne Gold. The results showed that the retreatment time was shorter with TotalFill bioceramic sealer compared to AH Plus, while AH Plus had a higher maximum apical load. The maximum coronal load and torque values were similar between the two sealers. TotalFill bioceramic sealer achieved apical patency in all samples, while AH Plus only achieved it in 75% of the samples. The remaining obturating materials were comparable between the two sealers. WOG was effective in removing obturating materials from both sealers.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the removal effect of ProTaper Next system combined with manual nickel-titanium Hedstrom files or chloroform on filling materials of mandibular incisors by micro-CT. The results showed that PTN combined with MNiTiH could reduce the volume and surface area of residual filling materials, and PTN combined with MNiTiH had less apical extrusion compared to PTN combined with chloroform. However, neither of the two methods rendered root canals completely free from filling materials.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the interfacial adaptation of two root canal sealers (EndoSequence BC Sealer and AH Plus) to a conventional gutta-percha cone in oval-shaped canals. The results showed that although none of the specimens had a gap-free area along the entire GP-sealer interface, oval canals filled with AH Plus showed fewer gaps than the ones filled with EndoSequence BC Sealer.

Summary: The conventional treatment for irreversibly inflamed or necrotic teeth is root canal treatment or apexification. However, regenerative endodontics using the cell-homing technique shows promising results that can be translated into clinical practice. The cell homing technique is based on endogenous stem cells' capacity to regenerate tissue, and its success criteria have been defined by the American Association of Endodontists. This article provides an overview of vital pulp tissue and various strategies to promote regeneration of damaged pulp tissue, with a focus on the cell homing technique.

Summary: Traditional meshless methods have difficulties in approximating vector fields due to their use of scalar-based functions. This study introduces the vector nodal meshless method (VNMM), which constructs approximations using shape functions based on the H(curl) spaces and Nedelec's first type elements polynomial space. The authors demonstrate the interpolation capacity of the VNMM shape functions and compare it to the traditional edge finite element method (EFEM) in solving eigenvalue problems. The VNMM shows good performance in solving a nonlinear magnetostatic problem.

Summary: This study evaluated the precision of a simplified workflow using only preoperative CBCT scans to gain guided access to root canals of extracted mandibular molars. The influence of the presence of coronal restoration in the simplified workflow was also evaluated. The results showed that the simplified digital workflow using only CBCT examination allowed a high level of precision in obtaining access in extracted molars with and without coronal restoration.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis show that pulpotomy is a highly effective treatment for managing permanent teeth. The results indicate that the success rate of pulpotomy using ProRoot MTA is significantly higher than when using calcium hydroxide. However, the certainty of evidence supporting these findings is low, and there is a need for well-designed RCTs to assess the long-term outcomes of pulpotomy using newer bioceramic materials.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of root canal enlargement on the danger zone (DZ) of mandibular molars. Micro-computed tomography scans were used to examine 30 mesial roots of mandibular first molars before and after different preparation steps. The results showed a significant reduction in DZ thickness after preparations, as well as a shift in DZ position towards the coronal direction. The length of the canal also correlated with the root level of the DZ.

Summary: This study evaluated the preparation status, dentine removal volume, and dentine thickness of buccal canals in 22 maxillary molars with and without the MB2 using instruments with the same tip size but different tapers. Micro-CT scans were performed after each instrument. The results showed that there was an increase in dentine removal volume and a decrease in unprepared areas and dentine thickness after each treatment step, with higher reduction in dentine thickness in the MB2 canal compared to the mesiobuccal and distobuccal canals. Knowledge of pre-operative dimensions and dentine thickness is crucial to avoid excessive dentine removal.

Summary: This study aims to assess the influence of a flat-side design on the geometry, metallurgy, mechanical performance, and shaping ability of a novel nickel-titanium rotary instrument. The results showed that the flat-side instrument demonstrated enhanced cutting ability compared to its nonflat counterpart, but inferior performance in terms of time, rotation, and maximum torque to fracture, along with distinct phase transformation temperatures. No significant differences were observed in other aspects between flat and nonflat instruments.

Summary: This study assessed the transportation of root canals with 6 different preparation systems. It found that the choice of preparation system and the location within the root canal had significant effects on transportation. Twisted File Adaptive showed the highest transportation, while XP-endo Shaper had the lowest. Transportation generally occurred towards the inner aspect of the canal at the coronal third and towards the outer aspect at the middle and apical thirds.
