Summary: This paper proposes a method based on infrared thermography and convolutional neural networks to differentiate between a healthy knee and an injured knee. By processing images and designing a CNN, the proposed method can automatically identify a patient with an injured knee with high accuracy. The method has the advantages of being fast, low-cost, harmless, and non-invasive.

Summary: Fiber reinforced polymer composites play a crucial role in reinforced concrete structures, but their external reinforcements are prone to debonding issues which require early detection and characterization. Infrared thermography has emerged as a fast-imaging technique for identifying and characterizing surface and near-surface defects, aided by the development of new thermography and post-processing techniques. Sophisticated thermography techniques and novel post-processing approaches have been explored for defect characterization in FRP bonded concrete, but there is still potential for further research in this area to improve defect detection, especially for near-surface flaws.

Summary: Marquetry method plays a significant role in Italian culture, as evidenced by the large number of artworks created in this way. Active thermography, along with advanced signal processing algorithms, was used to inspect marquetry samples with natural defects, while dynamic thermal tomography was employed as an advanced technique for nondestructive testing and defect quantification. The use of established techniques combined with DTT proved successful in identifying and confirming the positions of main defects in the samples.

Summary: This study explores the innovative use of digital image processing techniques to analyze the triggering conditions of shallow landslides. The combination of optical and infrared thermographic imaging is applied to laboratory-scale slopes, and change detection and digital image correlation analysis are conducted. The results show the reliability of the displacement time-series obtained through this approach, with the technique also able to detect anomaly signals before landslide occurrence.

Summary: This article presents the improvement of four different techniques for segmenting thermographic images of electrical energy substation equipment. The results showed that threshold-based methods were fast but had low accuracy and precision, while clustering-based methods were slower but had higher accuracy and precision. The Fuzzy C-means method had the highest values of specificity, accuracy, and precision among the methods under analysis, followed by the Cluster K-means method.

Summary: Passive infrared thermography (IRT) and digital image correlation (DIC) techniques are used to study the temperature and deformation fields containing defects. The results show that infrared thermal imaging technology can accurately identify and distinguish surface and subsurface void defects. The majority of the large positive strain in the mortar is concentrated in the banded area radiating from the edge of the aggregate to the boundary, the connection between the aggregates, and the annular area surrounding the aggregate, which can develop cracks. The geometric factors of voids, including radius, depth, and thickness, influence the temperature difference, and there is a significant power function relationship between thickness x depth and temperature difference.

Summary: This study developed a fast and robust motion estimation and correction technique as a preprocessing step for brain surface thermography recordings. The technique approximates the deformation field associated with motion using a grid of two-dimensional bilinear splines and constrains motion to biomechanically feasible solutions. The proposed method performed well compared to other techniques tested.

Summary: Corrosion is a destructive phenomenon affecting almost all metals, and active infrared thermography is an online and non-intrusive method of non-destructive testing that has shown capabilities of detecting sub-surface metal loss. However, challenges such as thermal reflections, non-uniform stimulation, and lack of a priori knowledge hinder the effective observation of sub-surface defects.
