Summary: In this study, four polymorphs of LnPc(2) were selectively crystallized by the slow evaporation of saturated solutions, leading to the determination of 14 new structures including Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Er and Yb, and correction of previous misidentifications. The primary feature in all LnPc(2) polymorphs is columnar stacking based on parallel pi-pi interactions.

Summary: A series of mononuclear lanthanoidate complexes have been prepared and characterised, which can be used as precursors to obtain heterobimetallic complexes. Trinuclear heteroleptic complexes have also been obtained. Some compounds exhibit slow relaxation of magnetisation at low temperatures. The study shows that the structural changes from mononuclear to trinuclear lanthanoid complexes enhance their single molecule magnetic behavior.

Summary: A hydrophilic rigid macrocyclic ligand was designed and synthesized for investigating the conformational dynamics of its complex with europium using NMR spectroscopy. The results showed that the complex exists in two conformers, with the twisted square antiprismatic one being favored. This ligand is suitable for developing rigid probes for paramagnetic NMR of proteins and is less likely to cause protein precipitation due to its hydrophilic nature.

Summary: In this study, the authors report a novel design strategy for intermetallic nanomagnets, which exhibit magnetic memory effect originating from each individual molecule. They synthesized a nanomagnetic molecule based on a single Er-III center coordinated solely by three transition metal ions in a perfectly trigonal planar fashion. This research opens up a new avenue for the development of high-performance single-molecule magnets.

Summary: Two new trinuclear heterometallic complexes, [(CuL1)(2)Zn(N-3)(mu(1,3)-N-3)]·H2O (1) and [(CuL2)(2)Zn(N-3)(mu(1,3)-N-3)] (2), have been synthesized and characterized. The molecular structures of these complexes are different from their unreduced analogues, 1A and 1B, with differences rationalized through theoretical calculations. The presence of intramolecular spodium bonds and coordination of azide ions play key roles in the structural differences observed between the complexes.

Summary: The magnetic properties of 4f organometallic compounds stabilized by secondary Ln-H-Si and benzylic interactions were investigated. The compounds without a benzyl group have a larger ligand field splitting energy manifold. Doping DyR3 into LaR3 results in the crystal structure of the latter compound, and the resulting material shows hysteresis in magnetic measurements.

Summary: The design and synthesis of high-spin Mn(II)-based single-molecule magnets (SMMs) have not been well developed compared to other first row transition metal complexes. In this study, four Mn(II) compounds with an oversaturated coordination number of 8 were successfully synthesized using a similar strategy that was previously successful for Fe(II), Co(II), and Fe(III) SMMs. Surprisingly, all of these Mn(II) compounds exhibited interesting slow magnetic relaxation behavior under an applied direct current field, despite having very small negative D values.

Summary: This study reports the crystal structures of two homoleptic metal complexes of Dimethoxycurcumin with gallium and indium. The ligands in each complex exhibit different conformations, with the (DiMeOC)2-Ga complex showing two different conformers and the (DiMeOC)3-In complex exhibiting three different conformations. The (DiMeOC)2-Ga complex demonstrates higher cytotoxic activity against the K562 cell line compared to cisplatin.

Summary: Treatment of [Sm(DippForm)(2)(thf)(2)] with 1,3,5,7-cyclooctatetraene in toluene under reductive conditions leads to the formation of an inverse sandwich dinuclear complex [Sm-2(DippForm)(4)(COT)] (1). However, in THF, it generates [Sm(DippForm)(COT)(thf)(2)] (2) and [Sm(DippForm)(2)(O-C4H8-DippForm)(thf)] (3). Furthermore, 1 gives 2 and 3 upon treatment with THF.

Summary: This study demonstrates the preparation of divalent lanthanoid pseudo-Grignard reagents PhLnBr (Ln= Sm, Eu and Yb) by the oxidative addition of bromobenzene (PhBr) to lanthanoid metals in tetrahydrofuran (THF). The reaction of PhLnBr with bulky N,N'-bis(2,6-di-isopropylphenyl)formamidine (DippFormH) generates Ln(II) complexes, and the reaction with 3,5-diphenylpyrazole (Ph2pzH) leads to the formation of both divalent and trivalent complexes. The use of PhLnBr in this work leads to different outcomes compared to previous reactions with PhLnI.

Summary: Due to the differences between lanthanoids and tellurium atoms, low-coordinate, monomeric lanthanoid tellurolate complexes have been difficult to synthesize compared to complexes with lighter group 16 elements. In a recent study, low-coordinate, monomeric lanthanoid tellurolate complexes were successfully synthesized using hybrid organotellurolate ligands containing N-donor pendant arms. The structures of these complexes were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and their electronic structures were investigated using DFT calculations.

Summary: New divalent ansa-octaphenyllanthanocenecomplexes were synthesized through reductive dimerization of 1,2,3,4-tetraphenylfulvene, and their structures and spectroscopic properties were compared to unbridged octaphenyl and decaphenyl sandwich complexes. The reductive dimerization of fulvenes using low-valent metal precursors is a direct method for accessing ethylene-bridged metallocenes. In this work, a new synthesis of the unsubstituted exocyclic 1,2,3,4-tetraphenylfulvene and its characterization, as well as the synthesis of divalent ansa-octaphenylmetallocenes with different lanthanoid metals, were described. The luminescence properties of one of the complexes were also studied.

Summary: This paper investigates the interaction between divalent [Sm(DippForm)(2)(thf)(2)] and substrates containing azo linkages. It is found that treatment with trans-azobenzene results in the formation of mononuclear or dinuclear complexes, as well as [Sm(DippForm)(3)]. Moreover, the reaction of [Sm(DippForm)(2)(thf)(2)] with 1H-1,2,3-benzotriazole yields a trivalent samarium complex containing benzotriazolate.
